Silly question time - maybe.

When getting alloys refurbed, do they do the backs as well?

Last time I had my tires changed on the fronts, it looks like somebody got 'toffee wheel' and 'grinding' wheel confused :(

I use the wheels specialist and they do the backs , think most reputable wheel refurbishers will do the backs

I'm going to be using the wheel specialist next Tuesday and I'm expecting them to do the inside too!

I'd assumed that they'd do the backs, then I saw a promotional video for a company showing them just masking off the tyre and just respraying the front! :astonished:

Wheel specialist take the tyre off do the job then refit and balance, good same day service too dropped car off at 8am collected at 5:30pm even got a phone call at 4ish to say wheels were in the oven so will be ready on time

yeh, "cheap" refurbs literally sand the face back and repaint, masking the tyre off

professionals remove tyres, they dip the alloys to strip them completely and repaint them fully before refitting the tyres and rebalancing

mine are being done in a couple of weeks, cant WAIT!

The wheel specialist process is as follows:

Tyres are removed and checked for damage.
Alloys are checked for cracks and buckles.
Alloys are chemical stripped in acid then sand blasted.
The alloy is then powder coat primed, then the colour of your choice, then powder coat lacquered.
The tyres are then fitted and balanced.
The alloys will be painted inside and outside.

Ah right, so the OEM paint can be used between powder coats?

Powder coat will last much longer than a conventional paint.
