Trabi World

Just come back from Berlin and saw some Guys / Gals having shedloads of fun in Trabants.

There's a "leader" at the front who tells them directions via radio and then they chug around behind.
Chug is the right word - the amount of blue smoke coming out of the exhausts has to be seen to be believed.
Looked excellent fun though and all within the Trabis had great big smiles.

Apparently there's a Trabi Museum as well.

Wish I had more time to have had a go.

I was in Berlin on October 3rd 1990 - Unification Day. It was an exciting time and lots of people around.
We got offered Trabants by several people - 1000 marks seemed to be the going rate!! Not sure how we would have got them back to UK though. But someone did used to have one locally. Legendary car.

Yes, I was in Berlin recently for a long weekend and we saw Trabi World, it was just by Checkpoint Charlie - also saw the "plume of blue smoke" driving around Berlin itself, although we didn't have a chance to try them out - would have been fun though I think!!!!

Apology owed to one of the Guys on Monday morning.
He swore blind that he'd seen a "limo" Trabi and us other 3 must have been looking the other way at the time.

Much merriment at his expense then ensued for the next hour.
Hope he hasn't found the same pic and it's waiting in my in-box on Monday
