Decided I'm going to fit the downpipe myself, so I'm going to drop the subframe.
While it's off I'm going to replace arb bushes and links, wishbone bushes and ball joints, track rods and ends, and the turbo actuator.
Anything else I should do while I'm at it?

No harm in checking your steering rack bush. If it's in good shape then there's no real benefit to swapping for poly, but if it's starting to show signs of wear/abuse then it'd make sense to do it whilst you had everything off.

My steering does feel a little slack/loose, could this be the culprit?

could be a multitude of things, but this would be one of the things that could be an issue...

other things could potentially be things like the track rod ends, the actual steering arm itself, or ball joints and such like... when you have it up in the air, check it out, you will see which part has the play in it..
