hi guys
I have a 2007 2.0tfsi Quattro avant,lovely car but feels very flat,like there's no turbo?
My wife has a 2.0tfsi a3 sportback and that feels a lot faster and you can feel the turbo kick in
I've done a scan and no fault codes came up
Today I've just changed the diverter valve to the latest one but still feels the same, old one was left in garage so not sure if it had a rip or tear in it
What else should I change?maf sensor?pcv?
Any help much appreciated
Paul

if you have access to vcds and have the know how try something that was advised by a fellow member for a recent issue I had "Try logging the boost in third gear and see what it looks like. Log specified and actual boost, rpm, and throttle. In third gear accelerate from low rpm 1200 to 4200 rpm and see if specified is tracking actual OK."

slow is something they are not, if you have an issue with the boost either diverter etc or just a wornout turbo you will notice a big reduction in performance to be honest, you'll feel the boost throught all the gears 2k upwards depending wether you have a standard ecu map or modified one, fuel choice does also make a big difference, but if youre loosing boost then it will feel flat and lifeless.
as steve says, VCDS will ping up any obvious problems, could be something as simple as a loose hose etc and you're just loosing all boost pressure, it doesnt take a lot to make a big impact with these engines.

Yeah it feels flat
I did have a bank 1 lean fault code that cleared
I've got a replacement pcv valve
Car drives normal almost like just a normal fsi

Hi
Thanks for reply
Would a faulty pcv cause car to be so flat?

I was thinking the same about mine. I still have the dv to change, remove pcv and fit my catch tank.

I Changed the dv and the pcv on mine not long after I got it and didn't really noticed any changes but recently changed the hpfp follower and it seemed to make the car a bit livelier after j changed it.

81000
Also got cam follower from Tps aswell
So got few parts that I think are culprit to fit

Update guys
Had pcv valve changed as it had a non genuine 1 fitted from previous owner, also 1 of the hoses going into it had a split
Now it's holding boost, while it was in I had the cam follower changed, thank god I did as it wasn't looking too good
Cleaned throttle body
Car feels better, but not as good as I think it should be so I'm guessing it has a lot of carbon build up in the inlet valves?
I'll be getting that looked at after new year

Car still feels flat to me
Just changed the N80 purge valve hoping that would cure it
Not sure it's done the trick
What next maf?

Have you had a scan done with vcds? Can always take it a run and do some logs and see what's happening. Be a better idea than just changing parts.

Had it scanned by Audi specialist last week when I had pcv and cam follower done
He said its boosting etc, right amount of fuel etc
He said take it and see how it goes
I knew straight away it felt same
But they fully booked until after new year now so that's why I'm trying to see what I can do in meantime
Car just doesn't feel 220bhp

just out of interest, what fuel are you using in it, if you are sticking in plain old 95 ron your performance will feel down aswell, manual recommendeds 97 or higher for best performance , i used 95 but performance felt down even after having a lot of work done on the engine etc, switched to super fandango higher octane fuel, shell nitro + or simliar worded fuel and the difference is very noticeable , its like have extra boost ontop of normal boost, wont go back to ordinary 95 unless it absolutely last ditch fill and nothing else is available.

Have been using shell vpower+ or whatever you call it ever since its had parts fitted
Maybe it's me comparing it to the other halfs A3
Mine is a lot heavier so wouldn't feel as fast?

sounds like you may have an issue then, a smaller and lighter A3 with similar engine may well feel more repsonsive , but that doesnt means its any more powerfull or faster to be honest, its ecu map would be different to your A4.
An A4 quattro avant is a heavier lump to move, but they are not slow, 0-60 in 6.9 for the 220 quattro is no slow coach, will put a lot of other cars to shame.
Maybe there is an issue with your ecu mapping or similar, the map on the 220 is the same as the dtm map, well it's the same BUL engine so would be in factory mode, i love mine and it goes like stink with the standard map, certainly has a noticible boost point and you can feel be pushed back into seat.

Cheers for the replys
Just swapped maf with wife's A3 as its same part no
Will see how it goes today
But stumped with what else to do
Spend more money at garages etc changing parts
Or get it mapped

if i was in your shoes i would have a go in another a4 220 same spec as yours that is a good standard tune, not remapped, and compare how it runs and feels to yours, i think that way you'll be able see what the format is.
you effectivly need a known good point of reference to compare yours against.

why not find your nearest dealer selling a good used a4 same engine spec as yours and thats it a good example , say your interested and take it for a test drive, nothing lost chap, you can gain a more indepth idea of if yours is a lesser performing engine.

Stick it on a rolling road and have the bhp and more importantly the torque measured.

I swapped Mafs from my wife's A3 to mine and mine to hers, made her car rather hesitant
Didn't feel much better in mine though
So ordered a new maf and some R8coilpacks from TPS
Try and fit them today
Just trying stuff I can physically do myself than pay a garage to do
No one else have similar with their car?

You would be cheaper going somewhere and getting it on a rolling road and seeing what it's actually putting out than spending money on new bits.
The a4 isn't a light car and its heavier with the Quattro I don't think mine is that fast feeing until I look at the speedo and see what I'm doing. They are that smooth and quiet that you don't realise how fast they are sometimes.

Just changed the coil packs and maf
Car feels a lot more responsive, yay!
The old coil packs were the originals from 2007 so I'm guessing they were well used lol 80000 miles so they'd defo needed changing
Had a bit of brown substance on them

Might as well pull the inlet manifold off and give the valves a clean as well. I'm gonna do mine when the weather gets a bit warmer.

What's the price of the r8 coil packs from tps?

Just another update
But a good one!
Had a local garage sort my car out today
Had them replace fuel filter I bought from Tps and changed spark plugs as they looked tired
And it seems to have done the trick
Had a system too lean on idle code
Cleared now
And car goes like stink
Well happy!
Finally

well that is good news chap, you see , it does'nt take alot to make a big difference, enjoy it now.

Check your n75 solenoid as that was my issue when I was boosting....car felt like a NA engine...

Need to get a boost reader as I still don't think it's boosting enough
Do other members quattros put you back into the the seat when you boot it?
Might try the n75 valve aswell

Bit of a late reply but I felt the same when I bought my 2.0TFSI Quattro. It wasn't slow, but hardly brisk either. Turned out I had a number of things needing attention, most notably a loose wastegate that was bypassing exhaust gasses around the turbine unnecessarily. Sorted that out and it felt a lot better.

Recent dyno at MRC showed 221Ps and 238lb-ft. I have a BGB engine so mine should be around 200 for both. I was surprised.

Still doesn't feel fast enough though. Seems hesitant too sometimes. Full VCDS owner and no faults logged, most logs look normal (MRC said everything looks fine too). I may decoke the intake and get new coil packs.

SemiT, what were your fuel trims before and after you did the waste gate adjustment?

Unfortunately I don't have that info to hand, sorry.

Had the n75 valve fitted and mechanic checked the wastegate and he said all is good
Only went for little drive but car definitely feels a lot better
Parts changed
Pcv
Cam follower
Diverter valve
N80
N75
R8 coils
Spark plugs
Fuel filter

Good news.

Slightly off topic but mine definitely feels a lot livelier with an 034 Motorsport sports cat. I didn't expect it to feel this Michael better. No increase in overall power that I can feel, but definitely spools quicker and is generally more responsive.
