AO09 NNN Audi RS3 Project

Is there brake cooling out for sale now?
Cool car

Ceramics are on hold. I may buy the TTRS...
I am leaning towards the TTRS as well but I do love my RS3

The first 2 cooling option pics look like failed prototypes and I can't see how the steering would function on the 3rd, but it looks like it would cool well

They aren't failed prototypes,

First pic is the mould for a dust cap with hose connection

Second pic is a shield in CF, unfinished of course. You can make out the hole for the hose connection

Third is a working TTRS setup

Ah, thanks for the clarification, I can't see how the steering functions without fouling, I guess once you have it all fitted up you will upload some more shots showing it fully.

Did you go off the idea of using the dummy front vents?

It's not actually me who's creating/developing these - it's a specialist CF producer I know

That is their working setup on the ttrs so they thought they would try it on the RS3 too to eee how they got on. Both are still candidates at the moment from what I know

First up..

MSSKit Springs.

William over at MSSkits sent me some springs for my RS3. I went for the MSS Sports Fully Adjustable kit.

I was really, really not a fan of the stock handling setup at all. And I absolutely despise h&r 'lowering' springs as in my opinion they are good for one thing only and that is in the looks dept. h&r springs absolutely ruin the ride of the car and have no place on any performance car. Absolutely the wrong spring rate for the dampers.

I fitted the rear kit, and then the front kit a few weeks apart to see what does what.

With the rear kit fitted I instantly noticed two things. Enhanced ride and the simplest way to put it is going round a corner you don't have the sensation of about to fall off your seat anymore. It feels quite planted to the ground which is good and something I like. The ride has definitely not been affected in a negative way, I can't even tell a difference to be honest. Another thing I've noticed the car when in dynamic, when I put the foot down it doesn't lurch backwards which was good.

Once the front kit was fitted I gave them about a week to settle, got hunter wheel alignment done and then took the car out on my absolute favourite backroad.

Very very happy with the front kit. It completes the car. I noticed more comfort and turn in with the rear kit but the horrific understeer was still there, with the fronts now on my talent runs out a lot faster than the grip lol. Managed to get the back end out for the first time on bone dry road, never even knew that could be done! Comfort is pretty soft you'd struggle to know the difference between stock comfort and MSS comfort but dynamic is ROCK HARD, the way it should be

Haha, 2017 is gonna be a good year :)

Merry Christmas to you too!

The 034 Motorsport Carbon Fibre intake is finally ready! This intake will be going to production in February, and I will arrange a group buy closer to the time. If you are interested, please get in touch with me and I'll not your name down. Price will be roughly £700. This intake sounds absolutely insane, and looks the part too!

Good to see you did those times with the pirellis on! I have always used Michellin supersports on my S5 and was going to swap them also on my Rs3 but will keep them on now

Looks awesome

These RS3 embossed wingbacks with red diamond stitching would match and perfectly finish the interior IMO. They're also much more supportive and comfortable

I have a set of 2015 RS4 fully electric bucket seats in the garage which I am going to get retrimmed soon I guess, the problem with the Recaro CS wing backs on all Audi's is that the leather does not match the interior of our car, it is too shiny. Ours is Matte.

My RS6 rear wavey disc setup, and a full milltek non res catback (new) is up for sale.

I'm going ceramic all round and a custom exhaust system.

I should've known, you're always one step ahead! lol

Why electric seats? More weight with a lot of electric and less performance, usually they are quite heavy compared to a race seat. Race seats would have been nice but you maybe don't want to go all the way for just performance?

Am guessing it's not to much of a worry or he wouldn't have changed to a heavier car with panno roof. Plus I guess with in the end 600plus horse it will not be so noticeable lol

Everything counts :). I am that person either way, on or off but as you say in the long run its fast enough.

My car is the ideal RS3, I drive mine every single day of the week. It will be the ultimate 600bhp daily driver.

It is super silent in comfort, and ultra smooth to drive.

However, Dynamic turns it into a completely different animal altogether.

You are right about the electric seats, I may sell them as the electric adjustment on the Recaro CS is a gimmick. Looking for cheap Audi Recaro CS now in rubbish condition so I can have them re trimmed to spec, carbon fibre/nardo shells with diamond red stitching

Pano roof weighs about 25kg, the sound of the car when you open the roof makes it every bit worthwhile.

I've also installed an Exhaust Flap Control Module.

I'm VERY picky. I didn't want to have an extra remote to control my exhaust flaps, I wanted a way to control the flaps via the Audi Drive Select Menu.

I finally found what I was looking for.

IMG 4034 IMG 4037 View attachment 113518

Overview of what this does -

Plugs into the CEM in the passenger side footwell.

Comfort - valves closed up until 4800rpm WOT (to protect engine)

Auto - Auto

Dynamic - FULL open at ALL rpm's

Individual - will follow whatever setting you set to above.

Cold start - valves will REMAIN closed UNLESS you switch it to dynamic. (Unlike OEM where it tests the valves open/close upon starting the car and you cannot open the valves by switching to dynamic)

Warm start - you will still get the crackles on start up and then the flaps will revert to closed position.

OH and if you're in comfort but want valves OPEN - switch traction control OFF/ON and the valves will open.
If you've done the above and then cycle the drive select modes and revert to comfort the valves will return to closed. It won't remember the valves open setting in comfort which is good.

Really really well thought out bit of kit. No error codes on VCDS either, it just works.

Ok, but that flap thing you can pretty much control with a 1£ switch and some work about 1/2-1 hour. I have it and it simply cuts the electric to flaps which leaves them open or force them to stay closed all the time. It works very well and doesn't leave error codes or anything. Make it oem with the switch on active again and it follows whatever mode from comfort to dynamic. The only thing that changes is controlling the flaps so you have all modes active in drive select and of course sound is much more louder in dynamic with flaps open all the time. Simple and cheap.

I'd rather control via drive select menu haha. A switch like that has no place in my car lol.

@Arcam K-Electronic website, it was €420

Ok, understand, not in my car either, hidden away :whistle2:, just joking. Now you have it, so better to stick with it. Keep on modding, nice. Waiting for the final touch when everything is in place and ready to race.
