Lost power. Yellow wire light flashing.

Help please.

Driving home, moving up the gears, car starts to lose power sluggish and the yellow wire light symbol starts flashing. I pull over, turn car off 2 mons later i start it up again and back to normal. Also the car smells lile its burning oil but doesnt seem to be using any.

Any advice would be great.

Not sure about on the Audi but I've had this very same issue on my 2.2D X-Type.

The flashing coil light indicates limp mode. In my case it was caused by a fault on the electronic turbo actuator which was in turn burned out due to the variable vanes in the turbo being gunked up. After 170K i wasn't even mad. This could also have been caused by a clogged DPF but I'd done that less than 10K miles before that issue.

Again I'm not sure that this will directly translate to your issue but could give you and idea what to research.
