So I bought an 01 a4 quattro 5 speed I went to take it for a spin and found out the rear drive shaft wasn't bolted it dropped now the car won't move around the drive shaft spins I do have a code for left front wheel sensor out could this mean my transmission is shot or just the awd isn't kicking in since wheel slippage isn't detected

its expected behaviour.
The 4wd system is compeletely mechanical and the centre diff only "locks" when it detects a torque imbalance. With a shaft disconnected the torque is zero, and thus the car doesnt move.

As above reconnect the driveshaft and the car should move. However I wouldn't go very far with it until it has been thoroughly inspected to make sure it's safe. Next time you may not be so lucky when a wheel or something else falls off.
