B7 charge air pipes

Hi all,

Wondered if anyone can tell me what the pipe coming off the boost pipe from the turbo to the crossover is! Seemed like just a box to me when I took it off!

Ok, so by accident I just found out what it is. A pulsation damper.

I'm wondering if i am going to need this, after I fit the new intercooler or charge air cooler, which is a decision I am yet to make!
