Facelift software on pre facelift?

Does anybody know what makes the facelift crackle and pop on over run? Im probably wrong but my guess is its just software. If so is it possible to make changes or have the software updated on the pre facelift?

It's all in the engine mappings, so yes, it's software.

When I was last at Audi I mentioned the s tronic was a little jerky, and was told it needed a software update, so not sure if that means it's the facelift software they'll be putting on, or just an s tronic software update? It's going back to Audi this month - couldn't get it done last time because of my Revi air intake!

I'm going to go with it not being the facelift S-Tronic software, given the facelift is a different 'box (7-speed vs 6-speed).
