Recently lost the key to my A3.

I have managed to get a new blade and remote fob off ebay. But need to get this programmed and cut.

I had been quoted £150 for new key.

Anyone know how to get this all done on the cheap and successfully??

Thanks

Rob

Fleabay key fobs are hit or miss. You need to make sure you have the correct code on the internals (mine was 3D0.... something), then you need VAG-COM to program it. There's also something about checking it against the Audi immobiliser database in Germany.

My local stealers got me a new key for £105. And I still have all the ebay attepmts sitting in the cupboard :)

Sorry to but in but thats a load of crap. The thing about checking it on a database in Germany.

Programming the key on an audi's is simple. I think audi charge about 80 bucks just to re-programme and let me tell you, its a 2 sec job but they drag it out to make it look like it takes time.

I have the instructions on how to program the key and all you need is one programmed key and the new one and you car. I used it on mine as I had to change the battery on my fob and it worked a treat.

If you want the step by step guide, just pm me your email address and I will send it to you.

I had a fair idea, that it was easier than taking it to the dealer, as all the geezers on seatcupra.net are having 100% success...

So surely it cant be that different on an Audi...

whereabouts in Scotland you from buddy???

The guy we bought our car from said if the battery goes flat in the key or you get a replacement . dont take it to the dealer for recoding, put the key in the ignition turn the key and hold the open button for 50 seconds and it will recode the key. Not sure how true this is?

alrite, the actual transponder has to be coded by audi! you used to be able to obtain the SKC code from them and do it with vag com but the new audi software wont tell you the code anymore!

hope this helps

After reading this does that mean if you haven't the SKC code it can only be done at an Audi Main dealer and not an Audi Specialist? I have just been quoted 1 hour labour + VAT to program a key :wtf:

I've seen elsewhere on here that some locksmiths (I know thats not the worrd I'm looking for but can I hell remember the one I am) can obtain the SKC code so they can do it all when cutting a new key.

Should be cheaper than a stealer..!!
