3.0 TDi decat

I have a 2006 pre-DPF 3.0 TDi. How easy is it to decat? Can the original be hollowed out? Will the map need updating?

You would need to update the map as more air is being allowed out. This means also, more can be sucked in as there is no restriction to let it out.
Sounds nice.

I had my 3.0 decatted and the rear boxes removed a week ago. It sounds fantastic and you can feel that it is more responsive

That is nice @Misikee.

That turbo whistle is amaizing.
Not really my liking that sound. This is why I didn't done mine yet. Obviously sound would not be the same from my 2.0 engine but afraid of it being too loud.
