Took my A5 190 TFSI in for a bit of warranty work (trim issues, speaker grille rattle, nothing major)

When I collected it the service "invoice" (all FOC of course) advised dates when future items will need doing, one of them is a timing belt change (due waaay after my PCP expires, but it got me thinking)

Are the EA888 Gen 3B TFSI engine's camshafts belt or chain driven?

I assumed it would be a zero maintenance chain drive, as that seems to be the standard nowadays (all my previous BMWs were chain driven)

Anyone know?

Thanks, so basically the dealer don't know what they are talking about lmao

Although, mine is the odd one of the range, because it's a gen 3B EA888 not a gen 3. It's the new Budack cycle (like a miller cycle).... i think the 250hp 2.0 and S5 aren't 3B engines. SO maybe the 3B is belt driven
