Hi Guys,
Just after a bit of input on 5000 mile oil change intervals.
There are a vast mixture of opinions online between it being a waste of time and that it can even do damage, with cleaning properties of the oil lasting 3/4000 miles and constantly loosening up all the bad stuff?...
Some say it’s good for cars that make a lot of short trips and driven hard. Now my car will probably do 10,000 miles a year if not a bit more, and it will be on the annual servicing with Audi. But I’m considering because say 60% of my driving is within a 10/15 mile radius and I’m not shy of putting my foot down, a 5000 mile change might be wise?
Then on comes the question of what oil, but I will leave that and let the specialists decide when I have a chat tomorrow. Obviously it will be within VAG spec, but I want to know what is the best of what we are ‘allowed’ to use and I will supply Audi the chosen oil when it is serviced thereafter, retain some consistency because each dealer seems to use a different oil.
I would like a 5000 mile change as a tuning specialist, 10k at Audi, 15k at a specialist and so forth... that way I know the car is getting proper treatment around the monkeys at some Audi dealers you all deal with, I definitely don’t mean the ones I deal with or have dealt with
I guarantee the next thing now, I will have a dealer telling me I’ve posted online advertising that I’m not following the Audi service schedule and changing the oil that often isn’t as per their recommendation and therefore my warranty is void. So no Audi, I’m not going to change my oil more frequently for that purpose.
Cheers
Matt.
