Hi i have a 2011 A3 8P sportback model and have bought this so i can put a subwoofer in the boot
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A3-...130364?hash=item2a961d51fc:g:W1IAAOSw9hdaDun5
this is meant to be for my car but there is no specific space in the boot for this or above the wheel arch in the boot. do i have to cut out the boot trim to fit it in or what how do i do it as i really want a subwoofer in the boot thanks for your help

this car does not already come with a subwoofer or anything in the boot and i cant seem to find anyother sub woofer box for my car model

Hi I've seen custom subs in the boot. Which have replaces the oem ones not cheap. If you Google it I think quite a few examples will come up

I don't think there is already any subwoofer in the boot. also is the ebay link one i provided above a custom or oem? I have already bought it but i dont know what to do with it now

Mines has sub in boot 8p facelift I've seen others that have made replica out of mdf. Somone on this site has done it and it looks good also sounds great.

oh okay i didnt realise its under the boot trim i'm sorry lol no i haven't taken the trim off yet. for some reason my stupidity led me to believe that it sits in the boot and not under the trim. will check this out htank you so much

Would this mean the OEM speakers and sub are Bose for the 2011 A3?
No mate it's none bose only s line has bose. If you put your system. The aun is on left hand side if you place your hand on the panel you should either hear it or feel it. I was going to replace mines wanted more depth to the base but depending what I play it sounds ok.

Are you using headunit that came with car or putting in aftermarket

I have the standard non bose amplified speaker system. Do you think its possible to upgrade just the sub speaker using stock sub box and wiring?

Hi there is a amp connected to the sub.yes it is possible to upgrade the sub best tip go to Halfords tell them you want to upgrade th3 sub they will tell you best way to do it because the sub has double wires connected to it. Then take there information and your sorted.

hi mate sorry been stuck at work and not had much free time. so theres definitely no subwoofer in the boot im going to have to fit it in with that box just have no idea on how to do it including removing the trim etc and fitting that box in then cutting a hole in the trim i reckon to go around it?

if im honest, the better way to have done this would be to have researched it first. not meant in a snide way, its just that youve bit the bullet on a £75 box of mdf and carpet with no idea on how to install it.
the factory fit sub is crap, so you could have done an underseat sub install for less than £150 and had an improvement, now youve got the the expense of a sub, amp, wiring kit, the box, the time its gonna take to install and so on.

also i cant see whether youre using the stock headunit or aftermarket, which will affect installation.

theres a few ways to wire it up depending on your current set up. what is your headunit? as you have no factory sub im assuming you dont have rear speakers?, what sub and amp were you planning on using?

edit- just seen you mention kenwood tape, got a picture of that out of interest

do i have to get an amp too? honestly im not even sure what an amp is sorry lol i thought theyre built into the stereo and no i dont have speakers in the rear
time i aint too bothered about tbh
as of now ive got the box the subwooferspeaker and some good quality cable and some decent tools do i need to buy anything else

Just persevere , it'll be worth it .

7" display double din opens up the possibility of a reversing camera .

Sub amp - Class D mono block .

Choose a sub carefully as you want to match both the sub power handling and amp output.
Also match the box internal volume to subs required volume , polyfill helps here .

4 gauge amp wiring kit .

Silent Coat panel damping .

hi m8.

this is the sub speaker i bought. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JBL-STAG...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

what is the subs required volume? i know the volume of the box is 8 litres. i really wanna get this done properly myself. thanks for your help btw guys
im a bit lost with the amp now? idk what to do :-/ im a newbie to car electrics and speakers but i want to try and learn it

This is why you have to choose wisely , the box is 8L and the sub wants 10L !

Ok what you do is go to Halfords tell them what your thinking. They will tell you what you need and give you a list and price. You take this information home and you make it your own. Ie take their ideas and make them better for you. They will even explain how to run all the wires.

Don't rush it plan each stage running wires for amp and sub will take time due to removing panels.

i went to halfords after you said last time and the guy there had less of a clue about speakers and sound systems than I did. his manager had no idea either. tried another halfords nearby and had the same issue. so halfords in my area is a bad idea lol. i guess its just me to myself now hehe

Something closer to the 8L , some 8" subs that are not even shallow mount require as little as 6.5L .

You can go 8.5 - 9L , this is where the polyfill comes in...

Where you based

All the higher quality ones are 10L :-( seems as though only the cheap £10-20 ones are 8L or so.

if i use the 10L, would the 2L difference really make that much of a difference?

How would the polyfill help if the capacity is already too small?
