Picked up my car today - not my first audi though!

Hi All,

Been lurking for a week or so. Picked up a B6 Avant today 2.5 TDI Quattro Tiptronic Sport. It's my daily car and planning on using it for Ski trips. It's currently on 80K miles, and it's booked in to get the timing belt done.

Pretty standard spec in Akoya silver, but I've noticed that it has some rust bubbling through on the roof along the top edge of the rain gutter. Private sale, so my fault I guess - didn't check it over well enough. Suppose I will have to get that sorted.

I dug out my old Vagcom cable, and configured auto locking, and alarm chirps! Might go for Cruise Control at some point. Still deciding what to do for the radio/speakers. It's non bose, but I think it's acceptable, so may just upgrade headunit for more features.
Also planning adding a towbar.

I've had Audi's before, from 2005 to around 2011, then switched to BMW.

Snap.My 04 is Akoya too has 125k cruise and full DIS.Only a little rust on front wheel arches which I treated.They seem to be getting rare and holding value.I assume the stat and pump will be done too.It would be interesting to know the cost.Someone on here just been quoted 925 by Audi

The garage doing the work quoted 835. That includes the thermostat and waterpump. They are a Audi VW specialist, and give a 2yr warranty.

Thanks. I think I will leave mine as although over 5 years but only 45k since last one and timing was done spot on.

Where are you based? I paid £600 at a specialist for belt and pump, all genuine parts on my V6 last year. They are in Gloucester

I'm in London. Probably could have got it cheaper, but thse guys are near me, and recommended.

Chris in Muswell Hill did a great job on mine for £500 but that was 5 years ago and I don't know if he is still there
