My b8 2.0 tdi avant has had a funny knocking rattle on the drivers front suspension for the last year and I’ve had it jacked up, had pry bars in all the joints etc and I can’t seem to find anything obvious, its like a metallic clonking that you’d think wow something’s hanging off but like I say I just can’t find anything, only thing I haven’t checked is lower arm bushes as they’re hidden in the subframe but again I’ve given them a quick pry!
Any ideas

What's the year of manufacture and mileage?

I wouldn't expect to see lower arm bushes going until you're over 100k miles. That said, the B8 Avant isn't exactly lightweight, so joints can wear prematurely. If you are tempted to replace, then do the upper control arms too. I personally like a Meyle HD kit. Comes with 4-year warranty. Importantly, only torque the upper arms once the car is on its wheels so you don't stress the joints. Also double check you haven't sheared an inch off a coil spring. Easy done, and would give the tell take clunk as it's not sitting properly.
