I have an Audi A3 8V 13 plate, the car is shaking in every gear, it brings up the coil light most mornings, the engine management light comes up and stays on all the time, it goes really slow then goes back to driving fine, I have had the boost Pressure Sensor change and the Boost Valve and air flow mass meter changed and still is playing up, I am trying to avoid going to Audi as they will be expensive and some people I have spoken to are stumped. Would anyone have any ideas how I can get this fixed?

It’s difficult to say as it could be a number of things. Since the engine management light on, I’d suggest you plug into diagnostic first and report back with any fault codes.

it was showing PO236, what are the several things that it could be, as the mechanic is a bit stumpled, I have all the things changed and it still happening

Maybe it would have been cheaper in the long run to go to Audi than to change the components that were apparently unnecessary? :whistle2: :blahblah1:

it wasn't unnecessary as some of the fault codes pointed out to change the air flow mass meter and Audi might suggest the turbo which it is not, I would like to find out which part it is

That’s just generic fault code. Was this diagnosed on a proper VAG diagnostic tool like VCDS/ODIS? If so can you post the full scan on here. You could potentially have a vaccum leak somewhere or a problem on one of the vacuum pipes, faulty injector (which cause engine misfire and cause it to shake) but again all this needs to be checked throughly and eliminated. If you’re mechanic is struggling or does not have the proper tools, then he may not be the right person for the job. Without having a physical look at the car, you’re just going to get possible faults.

If an Audi dealer is not an option you wish to look at. An Audi independent specialist shop would be my choice, not a shade tree mechanic.

an engine loom failure? wouldnt be the first one from what I have read

It's clearly related too the boost circuit, everything including looms, connectors need looking at, try temp wiring the relevant sensors to the module supplying & see if this helps at all.

i have removed the map from my car which was quite aggressive and my car has stopped shaking, I know have the engine light on and from the carista OBD tool its showing 4 faults of PO236, how would I check to know what's wrong and how would I fix it, I have had the boost sensor changed and and the boost pressure valve and air flow mass meter changed

Did your map delete the egr valve? and was it blocked off? Youre now running a stock map with egr valve activated again? I May be way off here, but could it be this. ?
As said have it scanned with VCDS.

thanks for your advice, how would I get it scanned vcds, I don't have one

Hi all, my car is dipping in power, its sort of halts and then drives fine, the engine light comes on sometimes, the coil light comes on sometimes when I put it onto 1 and then the lights all go or the engine light stays on, whether the engine light is on or not, the car still dips in power, I have had the boost sensor and boost valve changed and the wiring and air flow mass meter changed, how would I figure out what is wrong? TIA

HI All, the car seems to be fine now, but the engine light does occasionally show and the glow plug light flashes, i did put Turbo diesel cleaner into the Fuel cap but its only a short term fix, what would people recommend i do next?

The comment early in the thread suggesting a full VCDS scan remains valid (not generic OBD reader) and potentially clearing old errors to see what issues come back.

Hi All

I have an Audi A3 8V, since getting my turbo reconditioned its started shaking, it holds back then lets me go faster, ive had the mass air flow meter changed and the boost pressure sensor and valve changed, it sometimes goes into limp home mode, the error coming back relates to mass air flow, would anyone know how i could diagnose the problem or know how to fix it, theres no lights on the dash when it shakes.

What's the actual error?

Have you checked the wiring to the MAF?
