I got my waterpump and cambelt changed for £90 labour. The parts cost me around £40. I don't see why anyone would rather go to a main dealer and let the work experience monkey do a major job.
Dropped mine off at Abtech a local independant audi specialist this morning. I am getting the cambelt, waterpump (with metal impellor) etc. done for £300 inc VAT. Much rather pay the £50 an hour there rather than £90 at the stealers. So fingers crossed my independant experience all goes well.
Yeh id vouch for that AndyMac, Have never had anything good to say about the stealers...independant small garage all the way!! its their life and income not just a 'job'.
That makes me feel even better with the decision i made to use Abtech.
Spoke to Mike earlier today and it looks like i will have to have my flywheel replaced while they do my clutch as it has some play in it. Still better to do it now than have it go tits up later. Am quite enjoying booting around in the brand new polo i have got form them too. Won't last too long though as i am sure i won't be so happy when the bill comes along on Friday (still will be alot cheaper than the stealers though).

Have used ABTech and they're good, although cheeky buggers quoted me £370 for the job, and said that the water pump would come with a plastic impellor, not metal. Is your car an S3? If it is I'll have to have some words to match your £300 quote.....
