Hi guys, this is my first post as I've only had my A6 for a week! So..... hello.

I wanted to see what people have paid for the job of having all 4 springs replaced, just for labour. I've asked a local VW/Audi specialist and they e-mailed me back to say it would be £614 in total, which is ludicrous (felt like it must have been a mistake and they'd included the parts but whoever sent the e-mail said this was just labour). Anyone else had this done and remember roughly how much they paid?

Thanks in advance

I've replace springs myself. It's not a quick job made harder by the pinch bolts on the front. For a garage I would say about 2 hours for the front & 1 hour for the rear. Alignment should also be done so another 30 minutes to an hour depending. I would say the £600 bill is on the high side.

I asked about alignment too and it was going to be £75, which is fair. But, basically, £700 all in just to fit some springs is ridiculous in my opinion. I'll probably get in touch with the garage who did work on my Megane RS and get them to do it instead. Shame as this place is supposed to specialise in VAG cars and is literally half a mile up the road. Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.

Have they quoted you the number of hours they think it will take?

No, just that it would be £312 for the front and £312 for the rear. I might just go down there this week and ask in person as I am still sure it's not right. Just didn't want to rock up there and check in person, in case there's some weird and wonderful thing you have to do to remove springs for an A6 which I don't know about!

Minus vat £511.66 approximately, ideally need a breakdown to know what they're including, changing, could be a mistake, but tbh it can be a crappy job, what's there hourly rate?

£312 front & rear is £624, not £614, but what's £10 between.........

Are there any systems on the car that require calibration afterwards, its not always as straightforward as we think, more data needed.

Not sure why they are quoting 3 hours for the rear springs. The spring is separate from the shock, and with the correct spring compressor only the spring needs to be removed, you don't need to touch any bolts or arms. The only thing that needs to be removed on the rear is the wheel before you start.

No extra systems on the car, I even watched a how to video myself earlier and was considering doing it myself! My other garage said £200 and then the tracking on top so I think we'll be going with that.

I paid £160 for it to be done on my B8 S4, not a super difficult job tbh.
