I'm missing a trick somewhere. I simply can't get the rear cluster off my A3 (3door).

I've popped the cover off (from inside the boot) and removed the screw and tried wiggling it (as suggested in the manual) pretty agressively but it just won't come out.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Andy

They can be very stubborn the first time. Basically there's a metal lug which fits into a hole with a grommet at the leading edge of the cluster on the side of the car (not actually at the end but a few inches in).

You just need to wiggle it like mad and try to prize the leading edge outwards without damaging the paint.

Just out of interest why are you taking it off??

I'm suprised you don't have to take the bumper off!

You actually need to remove the lights to take the bumper off!

As aboce really. There is a peg that fits into a rubber grommet and it is this grommet that is causing the resistance. Keep at it and it will eventually come off.

i struggled with this as i was scared of breaking something at first

but as people said above remove the screw then twist the light out from the boot towards the outside of the car and it will pop out, it's only one locating peg

To replace the brake lamp.
