Hi all looking for some insight, ive had a good look on this forum and others but no joy finding any specific answer so here goes. I have a 2011 A4 B8 2.0 tdi Quattro 170 CAHA 141000 miles, had the car 13 months. When outside temp is 11+ my temp gauge gets to temp as you would expect, needle sits just below 90 and stays there, below 11 degrees it struggles, my work commute is 8 miles stop/start traffic first part of journey is up hill so temp starts to climb but once temp gets to about 75 i start heading downhill the needle drops and by time i get to work its about 70, turning the heating off helps to get the car up to temp quicker i tried today leaving it off until car reached 90 then i turned it on and sure enough the temp started to drop.
So to me it seems like a thermostat issue, but ive seen mixed messages as to how many my car has and where they are located, and are they a diy job, any specialist tools req,d. The cars economy is poor at best 30mpg town driving, but with this temp issue its even worse about 28mpg and im a steady driver. It would be great to hear from anyone who has same car with same/similar issue and what you did to rectify it, any info or pictures would be great so i can put it to bed. I have had 2 vw passats and 7 audis in my time and never encountered this on any car, its defo not normal, thanks for any help.
