Hi people. It’s been a while since I posted so please don’t slate me if this is a daft question lol.

I have a genuine VCDS Ross tech cable , and someone wanted help with coding some clocks for a MK5 Golf. After doing some research, I’ve realised that it’s maybe possible with a ‘Vag Com’ or other coding equipment.
What exactly is the difference between a VCDS cable and a VAG COM?
Thanks

Vag com is the old name for vcds.
think vcds stands for vag com diagnostic software or something like that.
There are other tools like vag can pro and vag tacho(for mileage corrections).
vag can can flash firmware on to modules whereas vcds can’t.

Thanks for your reply. Would it then be possible to read the skc code and code mk5 clocks with a VCDS? Thanks

I’m not sure. Never had to replace clocks before. I’m sure someone in the know on here will answer that.
