Hi guys, I have a question about springs for mine A3 8V Sportback 2.0TDI (110KW).

I noticed that my car is higher upfront then it is at back for approx. 2cm. I measured the car's height and it came like this:

1. From the ground:
Front left 66 cm
Front right 66 cm
Rear left 64,7 cm
Rear right 63.3 cm (full fuel tank)

2. From the center of the wheel hub:
Front left 36,3 cm
Front right 36,3 cm
Rear left 34,5 cm
Rear right 34,1 cm (1/2 of fuel tank).

The car has "sport" suspension with multilink at back, height was measured with 16" winter wheels.

Shouldn't it be lower at front and higher at back? I swapped front and rear shocks last year with original Sachs shocks for sport suspension, but the car was like this even before change - I'm not the first owner so I don't know was car's height like this when it was brand new.

I also checked rear springs, they aren't broken. What's the solution to this? Should I change rear springs, maybe they're done?

Thanks in advance!

Sure about that? So far I haven't seen A3 8v with this wierd issue on roads, they're always either "very high" (I guess standard suspenion) or they sit "lower at front"...

Another question (since I can't edit my last post)...What does painted dots mean? I have two blue and one white dot painted on front springs and mark "MUW" - unfortunately I can't se whole serial number of springs since the mark is facing upwards :openmouth:

My s3 sits slightly higher up front than rear.
That’s on a relatively flat road.

Thanks friend! I guess you have stock S-Line suspension?

I was just wondering, would fitting Eibach Pro Kit (or similar) fix this? Should then car be lower upfront or?

Think the s3 is slightly lower than the standard slines.

I measured one front, one rear before I changed my standard s line springs for eibach sportlines, before both front and rear were 66.5cm from the ground. Day after fitting all 4 corners were level at 64.5cm, but the car always looks like the nose is lower, just the design of the car. Not sure how much fuel was in it but was level.
Nearly 3cm difference front to rear, and different left to right would indicate to me something not right with your suspension, could not say what though.

Yeah...Mine looks like AlS3BE's (maybe even little more lowered at back), nose is 2cm higher and it is noticable without measuring also.

Maybe has something to do that yours is sedan, and mine and AlS3BE's is sportback, I don't know.

Might be just wider wheel arches at the front which will make your measurements flawed.
better measure will be floor to ground all round.
other thing to think about is has your car been repaired before? Incorrect springs could have been fitted as there’s seem to be a variety of them for the 8v platform.

It could be that the front to rear springs are mismatched (S Line on the back, stock on the front), or it could be when the shocks were changed the springs now don’t sit in the spring cup properly.

First measurements (66cm front / 64cm back) are measured: floor - wheel arch. What do you mean by "floor - ground"? Car hasn't been damaged or in crash, no.

I was also thinking maybe someone put wrong (non S-Line / sport) springs upfront, that's probably only reasonable explanation, because shocks are 100% correct - Sachs for mine VIN and sport suspension, I bought them last year. Also, everything else on suspension is flawless, nothing broken.

To summarize, only springs determine car's height, correct? If we count that everything else on suspension is 100% okay ofcourse.

Here is my previous. First before Eibach Sportline (S-line) And second with Eibach Sportline.
You can see the way it sits nose high. Same with my current Passat. First with standard suspension, secon with Eibach ProKit.

I was meaning the measurement should be ground to floor of car, like chassis leg, jacking points etc, to see if it’s relatively flat across the board.
the wheel arches/wing are essentially decorative items. So if Audi design big wheel arches up front and smaller in the rear then it will always look like the front is higher. Won’t actually affect the drive of the car.
