help....i have a problem

wel... ive got a s reg a3 tdi and when the engine is cold it fires up no problem at all. but when the engine is hot it ticks over for a while berfoe it starts. on friday i went to start it up when it was warm and it ticked over for a while then started but the whole car was shuddering and making a bad noise so i switched it off and tried again, and it was fine. has anybody experianced this problem or no what the problem could be?

Do you know anyone with VAG-COM? How close are you to a specialist?

I'd like to say it is the coolant temperature sensor, but my symptoms were the reverse of yours, warm start no problem, cold start could have it turning over on the key for 15-20 seconds!
