Hello, Hope everyone's ok.
This is my first post on this forum.

I finally took the plunge this weekend just got and my 1st RS3 (FL Sportback, 2017)
I know this has been discussed before, but the threads were a bit old and so I thought I'd ask the question again if that's ok?
What tyre set up are people running please? I've been experiencing the issue of the transaction control light flickering and cutting power when I accelerate in 3rd.
I currently have Pilot Sport 4's, 255 / 30 on the front and 235 / 30 on rears. Is this correct?
I've also got a Haldex oil change scheduled with Audi early August which I believe can also cause this issue. I understand its essential to get them to look at the filter?

Has anyone been through a similar process. Are feeling a bit nervous. The independent dealer has already ready agreed to pay for the Haldex service, just hope there are no other surprises lying in wait for him as I'm also having diagnostics done.

Many Thanks

Non standard tyres will trigger TC. I hated the P Zero's so switched to MPS4's (like you) and it did trigger TC^. All I did though to stop that was engage sport mode so one press of the TC button each time you get in the car. Or just switch back to OE tyres.

^these tyres have a slightly different rolling circumference apparently, massive thread on it a few years ago.

TX.

Or get the ABS module update that fixes the traction intervention issue and run whatever tyres you want.

Not had a single moment of flickering TC light in over 2 years since had it done and have run staggered sets of MPS4S and now Contintal Sport Contact 7s

Also should be 235/35 on rears

Yes, i didn't know you could do that in the TC. Will definitely be giving that a try.... I somehow posted this thread twice.. but on the duplicate (Cant seem to delete one) I've been advised to run MPS4S on all 4 as I currently have different sizes. 255/30 on Front and 235/35 on the rear... so will also be doing that
Cheers

Hi, yes think I will.
Do you know if thats something all Audi dealers can do? Any idea on the cost? I assume its an ODB port update
Thanks

Just to clarify, they are the correct sizes for staggered wheels, the problem is if you run non-RO2 tyres (Pirelli or Continental) the front tyre is oversize. I have had the RO2 Pirelli and the non RO2 next to each other and the difference is significant. It is more with the Michelin as the 255/30 is a particularly fat tyre for the size. The RO2 is a fudge to get a 255 tyre to work on the front.

The software update has cured the problem for some but not for others, but worth a try anyway.

OK... But PS4 235's all round is still ok... would 245 not be better all round? Its not too late for me change... if you were going for 4 new tyres on Saturday from my position what would you get?

I ran 235 all round on my 8V.

Had no issues in doing so, even mounted the 235 on the front 8.5J rim.

I only run the 245/35 on the square set of 8.5" rims. I think 235 all round would be best as @8YARWY did on his. That would mean you are on an approved OEM size of tyre all round (staggered were an option) less questions to answer if the worst happens.

Marvellous... i think thats put that one to bed then. Thanks everyone.
It was also suggested to me the TC has several settings? On, Sport Mode and off. One press = Sport Mode, but this just switches it off. Is there something I'm missing here also? :)
Cheers

Greetings.. had the tyres fitted this morning. The guy at Kwick Fit came to ask why have I ordered 235's all-round when they're 255 on the front currently.
I explained and alas they were fitted.
I can honestly say that the traction control now seems to be completely behaving itself. For the first time I've been able to punch it in 2nd or 3rd and it not have a moan at me. It did briefly flicker after it rain for a bit buts thats it.

Car feels different again.. more planted.. and I feel more in control.

Thanks eveyone!

Enjoy !

I’m surprised the QF guy didn’t try to say the 255 were on the wrong axle seen it happen too.

There is a technical bulletin for this so any Audi dealership or authorised 3rd party specialist should be able to perform the update. I myself have done loads.
