Hi all,

I'm new to Audi with a year old A3 Stronic.

I find that the car automatically brakes when i get close to another car that is slowing down. So far, I've experienced this from about 50 down to 10 mph, then it stops the auto braking. Turning off driver assist makes no difference and I'm not in adaptive cruise control. Is this normal?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Yes it’s normal.

Can’t be turned off I’m afraid.

Many thanks for the confirmation under the bridge. It is an odd experience and I'm unsure that I need it, but good in an emergency.

It’s been in use for a while now, our GTD has a version of it too.

I know what you mean though, it can react when cars are turning left if you get too close.
