Hi Chaps, Lately my 1999 S3 seems to be very lump on idle almost to the point where it wants to stall (although doesn't) and the car seems to pop from the exhaust sometimes when you let off the throttle? I'm going to check the fuel pump out tonight as I believe that it may be on the its way out but apart from that anybody got any other ideas? Thanks, Ali

Vagcom for a start, could be air related too..

Yeah gonna pop up to Bath Audi tomorrow to see if they can stick it on the system. If not i've got a local independant who can take a look as it does seem to be mixture related. Thanks for the reply Clach.

get a trusted specialist on it first mate, Audi will sting yer pocket...

I replaced the temp sensor because my idle would bounce about 5 or 6 times then slowly settle. After I replaced it, the ECU took about 2 hours of driving to recalibrate and now my idle is spot on.

Cheers for your input chaps. It's going into the specialists tomorrow to have the throttle body alligned and put on vagcom so hopefully we'll get to the bottom of the issue!! Ali

Hi Chaps, All solved after a throttle body reset and all is well!! Only £10 at the specialist as opposed to Audi wanting £90 per hour!! Thanks for all your input chaps. Much appreciated. Ali

incidently how do you align the throttlebody..... purchased vagcom i guess?

Cable throttle aligns automatically everytime the ignition is switched on if you leave it without starting.

Non-cable has to be through VAG-COM I believe. Not possible through the free version afaik.
