Hi all,

little issue I'm having that's causing me a bit of a headache. Noticed a popping type sound coming from under the bonnet a few days ago so put the car in my garage to investigate further. She's not a spring chicken by any means (190k+)

So far I've compression tested each pot and all seem normal (holding around 80psi and peaking around 300 when turning over)
Removed rocker box cover to check for lobe or tappet wear and lack of oil supply to the top of the engine, but again all seems fine.

The research I have done seems to point me towards an EGR problem... Does this sound right??

Any input would be greatly received

Kind Regards

Needs to be plugged in and a diagnostics done before you go any further

Does it still do it with the ribbed belt off? Poss AC conpresser?

Ok, more info, have had egr off and had a look - exhaust inlet into the egr has been blanked off - had no idea it was when I bought it, hoping this hasn't caused this issue! Have not taken ribbed belt off and tried, and awaiting a VAGCOM kit off a colleague.
