Facelift UK RS3 Saloon/SB (400ps) Order Thread...

The exhaust sound in the video sound worse than the normal sports exhaust to me.

First irritation with the car, the screen wash squirt operates for far too long

If I'm just after a little squirt to clear the windscreen, it comes full on for 2secs or so and drains half the bottle:grumpy: (Slight exaggeration but still)

I'm sure a quick fix VCDS coding change will do the trick. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Pm sent.

I think it looks and sounds the mutts nuts.

Finally ordered the RS3
Nardo grey with black pack
Sport exhaust
Magnetic suspension
Sun roof
Sport seats
Bang olufsen
Red calipers and black wheels

Now the waiting.... pacience
For how long aprox.?

I am sure the dealer gave you an estimate when you ordered?

I ordered in August, my car is due to be built 15th January and it takes around a month to arrive in the UK.

Yeah so same as me - it will probably arrive before the 1st of March - probably mid Feb.

Yep that’s what I was told... will arrive sometime in Feb hopefully but I’m waiting til March to have it registered

He then double, double checked I didn’t want the car washed and I only wanted the number plates stuck on and not screwed haha

Just got home after a nine hour drive in the RS3. Beating up and down motorways, A roads and crappy dirt tracks barely wide enough, the RS3 lapped it all up in comfort, noise (when I wanted it) and with sheer ease. Struggling to think of another car this side of a 911 Turbo that could have done it all better, considering the weather conditions today.

I've never seen one of my cars looking so dirty, either. If there was a spa day for cars, I'd be treating it to one. It never missed a beat. How lucky we are to own such cars.

I ordered in October and have a build date commencing the 8th of Jan, but that’s only 7 weeks to be built and shipped for ideally collection on the 1st of March, is that right? Seems a bit tight surely

Mine was build 2nd week of November and ready for collection on Monday. That is with it sitting in Emden for a week and Sheerness for a week. Yours should be fine.

You'll be fine, I ordered end of July, Build started Sept 4th and I picked it up October 5th

Ordered 7th July and it arrived at the dealership yesterday - ours has Exclusive Paint though so took a little longer

It takes at most 4 weeks to arrive - you could even get it in 3 from the build date if you luck onto boats and don’t sit in the port.

Usually takes 8 hours to build the car, could be held for up to a week or so before released from factory if it needs any rework. Then usually takes 2 weeks to get the dealer but obviously could get held up and take longer.

Interesting:

{"orderNumber":"274812xx","orderStatus":"20","deliveryDealerCode":"00149","orderHistory":[{"orderStatus":"20","statusDate":"2017-12-08T01:01:34+0000"},{"orderStatus":"10","statusDate":"2017-10-31T01:01:35+0000"},{"orderStatus":"00","statusDate":"2017-08-26T01:10:48+0100"}]

So my car is now locked.

I was considering changing to the Alu Race trim to get the lights... guess not now lol

Well, I have my appointment for collection tomorrow at 12. I requested no dealer prep for both the interior and exterior. The weather has really f*cked me up as I had set aside Tuesday to make a start.

I understand all the reasons for not having a dealer prep the car - but if your going to get it detailed anyway (and presumably they will polish it too) then anything the dealer did is fixed.

And you have a clean car to use as well... I am happy to let the dealer prep my car when it arrives and if I feel the need to get it protected Ill do it after (although I can’t see what difference the Lifeshine on my car did except cost me £300).

New paint should not need a correction polish unless someone has put swirls in the paint from poor preparation. Each time you do a correction a layer of clear coat is removed reducing the life of the paint. I am hoping that there will be no/ minimal marks on the car and will prep it myself - I have all of the kit and experience (north of £1k of detailing gear sat in my shed) and just need the weather to co-operate.

It will be interesting to see the condition of the paint from the factory.

I've just ordered an RS3 Sportback 3% discount after an hours worth of haggling and £1k to secure the car.

Coming from an S3 Saloon, fancied the hatchback as I prefer the chunkier derrière.

Nardo Grey w/ Gloss Black Styling Pack
Black Look Alloys
Audi Sport Pack
Comfort + Sound Pack
RS Design Pack
Super Sports Seats
Privacy Glass
Folding Mirrors
Sunroof
Matrix headlights
Driver assistance pack / Active Lane Assist / Side Assist

Not sure about the paint protection and GAP insurance, pretty sure I can get it cheaper elsewhere...

Like you mate I started to do my own detailing and it’s not as daunting as it’s made out to be even applying the ceramic coats is easy once all the hard work or cutting and polishing as been done. But if I’m being honest from what I’ve seen before on you tube the condition that a new car arrives in is quite shocking really.

I know - I am expecting the worst.

A heavy coat of Tardis should do the works on all of the adhesive, wax and biological fallout followed by a bath in IronX for all of metallic crap picked up in transit. Dwell in snowfoam for a bit and then get to work......

Well, I have picked it up. I have to say that it is very clean for no prep - just a bit of writing to clean off the glass and the rest can wait until it warms up. Only had the inclination for 1 quick snap.

Not touched. We took off the plastic films together. The only cleaning done was by the snow!! Surprisingly clean inside too.

Oh, and I got 4 thumbs ups from mainly van drivers on the trip back from Watford (I did manage to average 16 mpg even on the motorway though) and 2 shaken fists more locally - I was driving sub 30 mph...... For all of the previous discussion on here about noise - ignore it - this car is insanely loud in sports and dynamic. Burbles rather than pops and bangs but far louder in normal driving. People turn around to look at what is making the commotion. Love it.

Oh, while I remember, on that car tax point - the dealer charged me £800 on order even though I had specced the option wheels - I noticed that when they taxed it they had to pay £1,200. To be fair to them, they didn't even raise the issue with me let alone ask me to pay for it.

Hope my dealer remembers this! Asked him countless times re tax and he told me no no, 800 then he came back to me a week later a bit apologetic about it but saying he’d honour the 800. Be asking the q upon the paper work

Hopefully they play it as fair as mine did. At the end of the day, they have quoted you a total price on order and I would have thought that, if you stand your ground, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on anyway.

It is just nicer not to spoil collection day with a big argument.

I posted this on another thread and forgot to post it here. Looks like some of the pops and bangs are back. Comments say its from an Iroz Motorsport catless downpipe and midpipe, also mapping too. It says the switchable crackles and pops are louder than pre-facelift.

Got a email saying mines is arriving at Worcester Audi in the next 48 hours

Trying to organise the car to be detailed prior to collection in the 1st of March, so a new car detail with a coating of gtechniq crystal serum light, single stage polish and rim faces only with g techniq c5 wheel armour. Quote from 525...seem reasonable?

I’d possibly be wanting a top coat of Exo, the full wheels and also the brakes done for that price mate... just to get the full lot done first time round so you’re all sorted
