Magnesium is only used in really expensive alloy wheels and really expensive car exhaust systems

**** it l aint selling even though l could have the Mrs car for most of the week and my wee mums when not using avrils...l still stay between 2 households just to keep my mother company..av a unique tt and it has kinda grown on me month by month....i'll get my RS3 when things get back to some normality hopefully sooner rather later for you guys,.,,,,l want my RS3 the way l like and not the way Audi have started off the spec/options list with couldnt have a RS3 without a Pan-roof dont want a Vorsprung....

As l have mentioned before in general Our factory has of late been inundated with orders from a company wanting their semi conductor tools refurbished... even across the board the semi conductor industry is ramping up.....which is not common during a recession the machine and wafer/chips/machines we produce are used in all sorts of gadgets and a lot of them for the car industry....
Anyway Riviera blue for myself......

@Snake Pliskin forget a used Porsche....get a new yin.....cheaper
If your happy with it keep it . The lack of individual spec options and not being able to have the car to my liking stopped me from ordering
so lets hope things change on that front although I can't see it anytime soon if at all . You going standard or carbon ?

Dodge that RSQ3 cannon ball that the Mrs has fired across the BOWS....of the @Mr Freeze RS ship.....not a particurarly renowned RS car fast for a SUV though.....in my opinion.....l dont see the car shortage situation getting any better until the second quarter of 2022
I'am not an SUV lover to be honest although I don't think the RsQ3 is a bad looking car . Keeping hold of our current cars might be the best thing to do
until thing become a bit clearer .

Carbon spec... though the interior carbon trim aint it looks like faux carbon to me....Carbon to me is Carbon twill.....that's another bug bare of mines on new Audi cars stupid black/carbon inlays on the side sills you actually hardly notice these inlays....why put carbon on these is beyond me because this part of the car gets the most wear.....

the 4 litre Porsche was a car I was considering but the rear wheel drive & price tag puts me off once you spec it up as you found with the boxster.

the RS3 is the right car for me no question ... I’m just gonna have to endure the wait and hope things speed up.

Hopefully for everyone involved in the car industry the situation will improve really soon l think they are firing out the worst case scenario to customers like they all.......do

Porsche prices are nuts money.....but l couldnt live with a rear wheel drive £68K Cayman S....thats what l was looking at with a £20k deposit .....**** that the Cayman/Boxster is due to be updated next year anyways

I think I arrived at exactly the same thinking mate ... as good as it would be in summer, travelling down the M1 in winter with sleet falling would not be an appealing prospect whereas you take it in your stride with a Quattro Audi don’t you ... plus as you say the price tag is mouth watering !

totally agree ... I’m not harassing the Audi sales guy as I know if they could get the car sooner they would. They must be frustrated they are not shifting cars.

At least RSQ3 looks good inside, most important bit. RS3 needs the RS Design pack

But then a Vorsprung saloon is already about £60k, and if you go RS dynamic pack £65k.

I could be tempted by the gts4.0… rwd isn’t really an issue with a nice linear power delivery.

The wait for those is just as bad though - I was told 9 months minimum when I was considering a gts as an option.

Must admit I really don’t like the rs design pack. It’s something I’m not fussed at being omitted from the uk config. A bit brash for my taste.

Edit - the design pack I presume is all the coloured stuff for the interior?

Yeah that part of the config really doesn’t make any sense at all…

Maybe there will be some with the base model but who add the performance pack for the brakes etc? Doesn’t make much sense on the other models for the money…

Yes it is the interior. But more about the extended leather etc. don’t have to go brash colours

I see the FB Audi RS3 8Y UK Owners Group has a new pic of an RS3 with number plate IN RS 3308, being as the first look was 3301 I guess that means the Factory has enough chips to have built 8 cars now over the last 2 months :icon thumright:.................Theres no pictures anywhere of a train full departing the factory?

I used to do a lot of Porsche work, GT3 owners used to take the Ceramics OFF and replace with steel discs to do trackdays in case they ended up in the gravel trap and damaged the ceramics

That is bizarre, as the ceramics are supposed to be ideal for tracking, but appreciate the discs are “fragile”, but ending up in gravel trap likely to cause more damage than just damaging the ceramics

Anyone got a build slot that they don’t want?!

Yes, scared of picking a stone/gravel up between caliper and disc which cuts into the Ceramic and at the time was around £7500 per corner

How have evilGT only just ordered and got a confirmed build 42 on a vorsprung,
I ordered on the first day the UK dealer configurator was up and running,
I was told then that vorsprung orders won't be accepted until September, and the only accepted orders in August would be launch models only 3 car's per dealer.

Just wait until ''Hi I'm Shmee'' jumps the queue with his new car before anyone else,

Audi and most of their dealers dont give a toss about the general public purchasing their cars, once they have your deposit they generally move on to their next victim, sorry, I meant loyal customer

To be fair I appreciate there's a wait, but when you was one of the first to order and paid cash it's frustrating to hear people getting orders accepted and build dates a month before me,
can't help thinking customers are talking s*** or the dealers are just telling them what they want to hear and then moving there slots forward once they have orders.

Archie Hamilton and a few others was straight in there posting videos of them in the dealership ordering on the German configurator, only now to be going back in and re-ordering on the UK one, as they can't have the spec.
How come there are only just realising this, surely Audi should have known this as they was filming and ordering in the dealership.

There's no way that will stand at 42. 100% likely to get pushed.

My dealership doesn't take a deposit off me until a day before they are due to deliver the car to me. Took £500 to secure my first build with them, and rest of the deposit the day before delivery. Second car they never took anything to secure the build and same with my RS3. They have been fantastic and gone all out to do everything they can for me.

A little Naive of you to be taken in somewhat by youtubers...Best to avoid car touting youtubers they'll post/upload anything just to get views
Plus did you expect a straight forward delivery of your car ....this chipgate has been going on since the start of 2021

Ben seems well connected with Audi being ex Audi and they recently were on an Audi press day so not beyond belief that they could have pulled some strings.

Also just because they’ve only posted the video doesn’t mean they ordered it on that day

Nothing worse than rich bellend youtubers talking nonsense and trying to act excited over their next throw away purchase "now guys In the last 18 months I've had a A45s, M5 competition, Rs6, M8, RSq8, RSq3, M3 competition but I'm really excited to tell you I've ordered the new RS3 and honestly I'm so excited about this one  and I know you guys are really excited about me getting this new car aswell"
