yeah I don’t think there will be a huge gap ... 24 months max. So 2 years or so with a pre-fl and then they can take as long as they want building a face lift to my exact spec & colour :icon thumright:

Agree, they will probably want to max the use of 8Y up until the hybrids and lekkie’s come in.

Read that this Sept was worst in record for sales…unsurprising as none built. But 33k electric cars sold, no doubt boosted by the panic buying muppets

quite possibly ;)
It is Riviera...l got the finance quote back for a car with a £575 paint colour and it was a good bit lower than l anticipated so Avril said make it worth the wait so l did. so without a fast car for awhile, next summer will suit me for delivery

How long did they take to facelift the previous gen?

2 years seems pretty early especially since hardly anyone will have had their cars by then

Rs3 Vorsprung Saloon ordered tonight via Turkey and coast2coast cars TTS will be sold when l get home

Nice. Bit surprised by that!!

Must be an exclusive colour given your feedback on colours to date…?

If so, did the dealership outline what exclusive colours they’d be doing on the rs3? Would be interested to hear what options were on the table…

Edit - didn’t read down. See you’ve gone exclusive but the above otherwise still applicable…

I got my 2016 RS3 in March 16 after a 7 month wait & launch around July 15.
When I got my RS3 the facelift was out around June 16 but that was just the A3 followed by S3 & RS3. Can’t quite recall how quick the RS3 facelift was to come out but well within 1 to 2 years.

sounds cool :icon thumright:
well you’ve done voodoo so Riviera will be a very nice colour too.
Yeah I think if you’re waiting for a vorsprung then why not add the exclusive colour too, especially as that is a thing that means a lot to you.
So you over came the cars short comings and grew to like it in the end then, front grill & all lol.
It’s grown on me a hell of a lot ... I can’t wait to see one in the flesh if the Dealer gets a demo or showroom car.
It will be extra special too though being your 1st RS car ... you are on for a treat :)
So come into the waiting lounge with the rest of us and endure sorry I mean enjoy the wait & build up ;)

I thought the general approach was throw in a facelift to reverse a dip in sales and mop up any teething issues with the first release cars around halfway through a model life cycle… With a typical life cycle of around 6-7 years.

Fair enough though. Just a bit surprised by that.

Funny that we can’t get hold of a car yet but already thinking about the facelift

8V 2013-17 (RS3 15-17)
8V.5 17-20 (RS3 17-20)

Because of the late introduction of the 8V RS3 it is a shorter life span on the PFL car, by the time most get an actual 8Y it’ll be a similar scenario, especially because the competition will have revised their offerings, so Audi will want to freshen up the 8Y.

If things stay the way they are, likely to be able to sell 8Y for what you bought it for or more, and order a FL, but then 24 month wait for it

My S3 8Y is almost £8500 in positive equity just now with the way the market is. That's my deposit sorted lol

This annoys me - they just re-uploaded the stock Audi footage with no effort and have hundreds of thousands of views!

Go watch my video it has the sportback in it too and I made an effort!

All exclusive paints are available you just need to be familiar with them
£51k for my car plus the sale of the Matrix tail lights ....my timing on buying the TTS was perfect as l got a cracking discount on it then...that discount has gone down a lot now RS3 Vorsprung works out cheaper £460 a month but l did spend a lot on my TTS of which l am recouping
I will miss it but l have always wanted a RS3

Seems like only a few months ago we were all slammed for being audi fan boys and ordering a "disappointing UK model RS3" as soon as the order books opened.
Nothing has changed regarding the audi UK spec and you've ordered one .....

Will you really miss the TTS though as you've mentioned lots of niggles with it like the hard to reach controls on the centre console, massive doors, the paint etc ... its never come across that you have been that enamoured with it - hence moving it on so quick albeit not losing any money so a perfect time to get shut.
So I think once it goes down the road you won't give it another moments thought - complete opposite to your last S3.

As @CarterRS says though ... what was the turning point on the 8y for you after all the initial negative comments ?
& are you hoping the interior design pack materialises by the time your spec is locked in or you just accepting the dull black interior lol.

Am on my hols so I'll go straight to your point it is dissapointing and some of interior plastics are poor as are alloy choices etc etc l don't wear RS3 rose tinted glasses unlike a lot on here ...or are they just being naive...

I'll answer that one as well as I originally wasnt 'sold' on the RS3.

I need something with a hatch, or a avant/touring/estate or my best mate will be pi**ed off with me

1) I really wanted another Golf R, the 8R drives superb (once in ESC sport, or ESC off) but VW have cocked up big style on a cheap cabin and a rubbish info system with hard to use haptic buttons everywhere.
2) I looked at RS4, but, try and find one at RS3 money with adaptive cruise control (one of my must haves now) and without a knackered drivers RH seat bolster, I also dont like the stuck on 'ipad' type info screen
3) I briefly looked at A45S and A45S plus, neither have adaptive cruise on the UK model
4) BMW 1 series just doesnt work for me
5) BMW M340D, not struck on looks, a little too big for wifey, but performance is unreal for a big diesel, as is the 50mpg
6) S3 doesnt drive as well as the new Golf 8R

So oddly for me the RS3 appears my only option  I have an agreement that (If they ever appear) that if I dont like the dealers demo drive I can get my deposit back, although where I would go from there I dont know

Best mate............

Panoramic roof is why I've Vorsprung dont really know what spec it has over a carbon Ed the TT really needed a certain pop up screen l missed a glass roof...the TTS vorsprung build quality is really R8 build quality something the 8y hasn't....its all about plus and minus points and getting a car that has a better balance in this regard salesmanship phoning me this afternoon to go through details/deposit from Brighton Audi got a £2k discount better than nothing

That is a very fair summary.
I suppose some of that applies to me ... as there is nothing else out there that appeals to me either.
The driver for me is the sound from the 2.5 litre 5 cylinder and the Audi sports exhaust.
Great comment on your best mate too, I like that :icon thumright:

Fair enough - yeah I get the pano roof, that is the 1 thing above everything else I would have liked - but I can live without it as never had one.
The Vorsprung has a fair bit of extra kit, although the comfort and sound pack was the main thing I wanted and thankfully was an option I've been able to add.
So you will get sunroof, heads up display, 360 camera, power boot, more adaptive driving aids I think, graphic alloys, C&S pack standard, leccy seats .. oh and a round steering wheel lol ;)

Ive had two R8's, V8 and V10, I sold my 13 plate V10 about three years back now due to Golf R just being so good at everything and the R8 doing very little mileage, I wouldnt say the R8 build quality is any better than most other Audi's, but the mechanical servicing/repair type work that is carried out only by R8 qualified technicians in Audi service centre's certainly appears superior.

I had a few issues with the V8 (both cats replaced, radio amplifier, AC pressure switch) the cats replaced I think due to the previous owner only doing 3000 miles over 3 years and I think too lighly as the oil consumption was initially very high which gradully decreased with 'proper' use. Both R8's always came put of workshop 'perfect' with no signs of any work being carried out

The TTS is only my 3rd Audi and it's the one that doesn't have any creeks or annoying rattles which is surprising considering its rides on 255/30/20 wheels and tyres every part of the interior is covered in leather or high quality FAUX leather l think you'll be surprised how things have changed now in new Audi cars as build quality materials are concerned

Me neither mate being away from the hamster wheel ...has kinda cleared ma Heed and the numbers made a lot of sense, yeah I'll have to do without my own car for awhile but "Winter is coming " so the TTS would just get ****** its best time to sell and look forward to next summer next owner of the TT will be a lucky chap or burd lol

My dealer said that not every exclusive colour would be available… that there would be an exclusive colour palette that could be chosen for the rs3.

Don’t know what you mean by “you just have to be familiar with them” though?

Unless my dealer misinformed me and absolutely anything can be chosen?

Your arrogance is hilarious. You could just say you changed your mind due to the numbers being better than expected on your TT, but no, you have to have an unwarranted dig at others

In the case of the RS3 I talk about what I know - not just repost someone elses videos.

Also again I would point to over 200 videos including the new SEAT Ibiza and the Ferrari 296GTB where I was with the cars...

These channels that repost stock footage annoy me as they have a large subscriber base so when they post that lots of people see it and then youtube thinks that it is a good video and shows it to more people - whereas if I posted that no one would watch it because I have a small subscriber base and so youtube wouldn't show it to anyone else. So it is very much different rules depending on what size channel you are so the only way around this is growing to that size BUT if your that size then reposting is even lazier as a channel with 100k subs can get access to the real cars so why are they reposting...? bit off topic but that is why.
