Just do a you tube to see how to put the ESC into Sport mode, or off as in Normal mode the level of interference, sorry, assistance is a lot lower than in a Mk7.5 and it's quite hard to see as the flashing ESC is bottom left of dash and hidden by the middle steering wheel spoke when trying to get out of a roundabout handy, then the whole car comes alive and just about 4 wheel drifts :)

I just hope the 8Y RS3 d emo impresses me as much, if it doesnt i'm out :(
i'am going to get a test drive in the 8R and see what I think for myself . Same with the Rs3 8y i'am waiting for a test drive and get a proper look and feel for the car before I make a decision . My S3 is paid for and currently my best offer is £28,950 so I wouldn't mind moving the S3 on ASAP as I'd stand to lose 6k over 31 months of ownership which I don't think is to bad .

My friend specced leather , DCC , Nav pro , 19 estriols , reverse camera , winter pack , on his 8R and it came in at £39,858 . His discount is £5,886
I think it is a cracking deal taking into account how expensive cars are these days .

Vfm the golf R is right up there as the best all rounder imho.

I’m waiting for the 8R estate to come out “for the wife” since the used 3er touring I wanted to get the price is so inflated so might as well buy new, and the golf has a bigger boot.

golf R is a cracking car mate no question. Just a case of how much the 2.5 litre 5 cylinder means to you ... that to me is the biggest draw. If I had a Golf R it would have to have the upgrade exhaust. But I’d still have the RS3 over it.

HI All,

Placed an order in August was told delivery would be in Dec/Jan now being told production has still not started on the car and could be looking at sometime next year depending how far down the line I am , anyone else had any updates regarding delivery build slots ? seems like a complete shambles no flat bottom steering wheel option on vorsprung also no colour pack as shown when they released the car etc feel like I should just cancel the whole thing entirely!

Ordered 7 weeks ago and my latest update was that the factory still have not accepted the order so no build week assigned…

Carry on, they won’t miss your order. The cars sell themselves.

The cars at Launch are always in European spec, this is common knowledge and always have different equipment, trims etc. No flat bottom on Vorsprung due to sensors in the wheel for certain equipment Vorsprung has.

Quite sure they could put them in a flat bottom wheel but may be wrong so I do agree on that.

They definitely can, I had a flat bottomed steering wheel in my B9 S4 which also had the adaptive cruise, lane assist, etc. I really don’t know what the deal is putting it on an RS3.

Heard it’s possibly down to being heated? Not too sure how true that is though. Either way, wish we had the flat bottom! :(

A heated steering wheel was almost the only thing my car didn’t have, maybe that’s it. That said, it doesn’t mention a heated steering wheel anywhere in the RS3 literature and strange that would be added just when the assistance pack is?

The Vorsprung steering wheel is the same steering wheel used in Q3/RSQ3 Vorsprung using the adaptive cruise control which includes the semi autonomous driving system ie the sensors in this wheel detect if youve taken yer hands of it te scratch yer baws or pick yer snout then warn ye....basically other RS model with the DAP have flat bottom steering ergo....

I think you need to calm down & enjoy your holiday.

what is ‘your’ issue with money ... you have no idea how hard I work to earn money & what I choose to spend it on is my concern so I take offence at that comment.

pi$$ off attacking viewpoint on cars. hardly the voice of reason chopping in your TTS so soon.

If you don’t like my opinion then stick me on ignore as I’m quite offended & thought you were better than that.

My spec on the Golf R was Performance Pack/DCC/Akra exhaust/Reverse camera/Harmon Kardon/Pan roof/Winter pack, comes in a little over £48k and £41500 after their discount, thats £17k less than I negotitaed on an RS3 Vorsprung............................Is the 5cyl sound, a nicer interior, and (to put the performance into perspective) only 15 seconds a lap quicker around the Nurburgring worth £17K?

But then I read the long term on 'Car's' GTI and its all it works 'sometimes' when he's refering to any aspect of the new info system, hopefully that £17k will stop me shouting and swearing at my car, unless the RS3 has the same issues?

C’mon gents let’s not get into turning a thread into a pile of crap. I was starting to enjoy this thread then it goes to the dogs. I’m sure everyone who comments is doing it as a tongue in cheek, but I agree that if comments offend then an apology should be forthcoming.

Like I put in the “things I hate thread” -
People that slag other peoples cars off. When are we going to learn it is all a personal choice and are the owners pride and joy.

Abusive :haha: I vanish because there's ********* like you on here that lower than tone with almost everything that's posted and your negative opinion towards it that's why. Nothing but a mouth piece that shoots people down in flames when they have a differing opinion to yours.

When you put it like that it is worth considering . The 5pot is the big draw I guess

Early Formentors are the same mate, lots of infotainment issues/glitches that are resulting in a few rejections. PITA to say the least.

The A3/S3 8Y section is flooded with issues so I wouldn't be surprised if there is issues

not had the best day so come on for what I hoped would be a nice distraction - certainly don’t want that & usually I can let remarks go over my head, just not the day for it & felt a step too far. Hopefully peace & tranquility can return & tomorrow’s a new day.
