Tracking our new RS3?

One thing I wonder about though, in terms of finance.

If we got in before the price increase, is the final balloon payment going to reflect the lower initial price or should it be a bit higher based on the new price since in reality a car bought on 30th Nov versus one bought 1st Dec will be worth the same, but the initial cost will be different?

Quite a different approach to what he said to me over the phone.
Andy even acknowledges @Sandra and ASN because there have been RS specific days for this forum put on by them over the years.

It’s the worst experience I’ve ever had in an agent’s in over 20years

So what @Daggerit @Rs31981 after your test drives what was your opinions?

I stuck mine in the reviews thread, but I just didn’t feel like it was as special as it should for the money I think. I imagine with a Vorsprung that’s actually mine it would be a bit different though.

Early cars to the used market always fetch higher prices as they are rare to the market that's about all l know

Yeah, totally get that. But people paying £70k for one right now won’t have a higher balloon on a PCP as a result so I’m wondering if it’s the same or not with the price increase since that’s an actual price change. If so and the final payment increases then monthlies should come down if you’ve locked in a sale price, but I imagine it’ll be the same as the original quote in reality.

Kemora doesn’t really do anything for me either to be honest. It’s in the bucket with most of the RS3 colour choices in that ‘I wouldn’t get it myself but enjoy looking at it on other peoples cars so there’s some variety’

IF and when normal production begins the car will become available with more of a discount don't see that happening until 2023 then come 2024 you'll be in facelift year

Fair enough guys, valid points! I was the same until I actually drove it though, which is probably driving my opinion.

I do think though, if it was my car in a higher spec and the way I wanted it then the feeling would probably be different and it would feel as special as I want it to. Especially with things like carbon brakes that are a little exclusive. Who knows.

My first RS3 demo drive was a 2016 Nardo grey sportback with one option super sport seats l felt sorry for that car as it looked nothing at all ......6 months later l drove a Mica blue RS3 sportback with a lot of nice extras panoramic roof l wanted that car so badly ...so it just shows you what a colour and few options can do for a car

So what @Daggerit @Rs31981 after your test drives what was your opinions?
I can’t say to much as the sales guy was with me and the test route was only 12 miles, half of which was 40 mph in traffic, another reason for my crap experience,
The only driving experience I can comment on really is the diving position and seat fitted me like a glove, when the road opened up the power and talk was impressive to me just keeps pulling, put a big grin on my face, big difference to my golf r, the Interior did feel a bit cheap but the seats and infotainment were nice,
With not a lot to go on with my experience it’s the car for me I love it, if money was no object I’d still have one.

+1
I’ve never bought a car which I hadn’t had a test drive in first.
I have at least sat in an RS3 but that was before I went crazy and ordered one.
Still I’m happy to give it a go and as @jassyo06 says, if we don’t gel then hopefully the RS3 residuals will help with a swap.
In terms of RS3 I’m not 100% convinced but it’s a high enough % that I want to own one to have the experience.(best to do it now before lose the opportunity).
So overall looking forward to 2022
After driving one I’m still not 100% convinced either for a couple of reasons

Negatives.................
£500 road tax plus double the insurance of the Golf
It didn’t blow me away performance wise, I accelerated hard and thought it didnt feel as quick as our Golf.............which it obviously is and then some I would imagine, maybe the Audi sophistication in delivering the performance disguises just how fast it is?
Not overly impressed with the interior especially with no pan roof in the one I drove, dash top looked cheap somehow, it's crying out for either the colour pack or a few more flashes of carbon on the door trims maybe
Steering I thought lacked feel after the Golf, felt too light
It's also my Golf plus £33k and for £33k we could buy a reasonable Motorhome and dissapear into the sunset come summer

Positives.....................
Looks, noise, new (warranty no MOT etc) something different after a run of Golf's
There’s nothing else out there that we like, rivals would be S4, RS4, BMW 340D Touring, A45S Plus, all of which have even more negatives that put me off, RS4 would top the list but I think the mpg would hurt too much and RS4 depreciation is quite high
Engine Gearbox very smooth compared to Golf
Less road noise and more sophisticated than Golf

Is the balloon payment not fixed at the outset, based upon initial cost, deposit, monthly payments and estimate of future value.

Oh yeah Adaptive dampeners are **** hot, in Comfort I could hardly feel the rumble lines
My TTS in any adaptive setting was hard but in dynamic it was too Firm but very go-cart like the compromise you made but good too hear you love the car l hope l do too...deep down l know l will lol l try not to think about the car....for me it's a far off reality can't wait to see the colour....and take my wee mum a run in it

Yes it is, can only imagine anyone who has bought one at daft money either have put a ridiculous amount of deposit in, or huge monthlies.

Yes, RS3 with adaptive dampers in Comfort setting are very, very well damped (our golf R is to soft, feels under damped and a little crashy tbh)

Dont forget though they still adjust to you driving and inputs in whatever setting they are in :)

Yes, good points and very similar list.
I’m looking at the RS3 as 1-3year ownership. (Facelift and new options, colours) might make me swap, otherwise I’ll be dropping down in power for my next car)
I might find it crazy to live with and run (petrol, road tax, insurance) but I want to experience it and look sing at it as the sports car I’ll never have (due to my sensible /practical streak).
it’s still a hatchback even if boot is back to my Polo circa 2013.
My mate and I have decided adaptive cruise is one of the best inventions and the Golf is so easy to use. I will miss it….but will it turn out to be a dealbreaker when I’ve driven my standard RS3 for a few months. Time will tell, I’m trying to convince myself the engine sound will make me forget it.

Yes, but if you’re like me and ordered before the price increase but not signed any finance paperwork as a result of the cars being so late, I’m curious what the final value will be when it comes to doing that paperwork.

Cars ordered before and after the price increase will likely be delivered about the same time, so are those with the higher initial cost being given a higher final value than those bought before the increase? In my mind they’re the same car, delivered about the same time so should have the same final value for relative spec levels.

So, if they’re all given the same final value, someone will likely lose out somewhere I’d have thought?

That looks terrible. Come on. You can see the lines of the full size plate. Just put the full size on!
It was only to see what it looks like calm down lol. Plus it’s my car thanks, will do as I please mate :)

The Vorsprung Saloon is the only model l know the rough price of ie a identical to my own would have gone up by roughly £100 a month on a pcp but my second choice a TTRS Vorsprung is far more expensive but again they're available with reasonable discount....l don't think the price rise would have put buyers off giving the hype surrounding the car atm....

So essentially you’re saying the final value hasn’t gone up in line with the price increase basically? Otherwise the monthly payments would be a lot less of an increase. That’s basically what I was wondering.

A youtuber with no patience

I'd probably say it's down to the 8y not being great 'content' for him right now more than anything. His channel is based on modifying/repairing/restoring cars, none of that he's be able to do for the forseeable while the ECU's locked and being a brand new car.

Let's face it, there's enough videos out there as it is on the rs3 as it stands....I'd say it was a wise move getting the 8v project.

Pretty silly to order one in the first place then..?
