A few are getting over the odds on current trade in cars so it’s giving them extra money to use against a car they’d ordinarily not be able to consider buying.

Very much my scenario. I’ve always seen the RS3 outside the realms of what i’d want to pay and have always had S3’s.
My term is up on my S3 in 2 months and went to Audi in October just out of curiosity to enquire about my options.
I nearly fell off my chair when i realised the equity in my S3 and was in a position where i could get into an RS3!!!
The misses bought a new TT the same day and being a returning customer multiple times they gave me £1,500 contribution towards a new RS3. I’d assumed contributions on RS cars was a bit unheard of….

My car is now compete and waiting to get on a boat.

I have a VIN
Just had a call confirming that mine has also been "released to boat".
There is apparently one on 16th, but they cannot yet confirm which cars will be on it.
Hopefully, any cars that do get on that one will be available for registration early in January.

The 16th would be good. I guess how quick dealers can turn them around will depend upon Xmas closures of the dealers… I can’t imagine they are rushed off their feet with new cars currently!!!

My dealer said he is expecting around 2 weeks from receipt of the car from port until collection… but as he is quiet currently, it may be sooner.

We shall see though as he seems to over promise and under deliver thus far!!!

Agreed. Mine has just given me the facts and been very realistic on expectations based on past experience, but we are not in normal times.
They can only influence things once they actually have the car. Until then, they just have to go on what they are told by Audi UK.

Yes hp

S3 its 380 with 18 deposit
Bit of a difference eh .

I got a quote for an Rs3 but opted not to order as the balloon payment was unrealistic for me basically your just paying for the depreciation
and getting nothing back at the end .

I paid my S3 off back in September so a bit of finance free driving is suitng me fine at the moment

I wouldnt worry to much about that. ICE will be sold until 2030. Past this point, the majority of cars on the road will still be ICE.
Petrol cars are likely to be on our roads until well into 2040-2050.
I like to think that certain ICE will have a niche and will maintain their values. The RS models being included in that. Along with peformance M cars and AMG’s.
You’re likely to see the ar$e in value fall out of all your bog standard cars with boring engines like your fiestas, corsas etc etc which in reality, electric in these will be better.
Heck, the value in niche performance cars may increase for a period of time purely because they arent made anymore. Who really knows‍.

Not gonna be an issue in 4 years time in UK as petrol car. Petrol cars will still be here for many years, and desirable ones like RS’s will hold values.

I get what you are saying about balloon, and some like Mr Freeze feel it is way to high. But others worry less about that and either p/x at the time or sell and settle finance, or obv. Pay off car.

They’ll become like a classic though. Weekend toys for people who can afford them. In a world of electric, you’d never daily it, unless of course you could afford too and didn’t care lol.

I know what you mean though. Residuals are a massive consideration when buying a car. One of the reasons i’ve plumped for the RS3 as they’re renowned for being so strong. No one wants to buy a car to lose a tonne of cash in a short space.

The RS3/desireable cars values will remain high as long as this COVID mind set of restrictions continues......as it will continue to affect all manufacturing/retailing across the board......sorry to say the ship has sailed for you should have ordered one before the price rise.... something tells me you didn't want that badly or you'd av done the deed....more to life than money mate

Not being able to have the spec I wanted played the biggest part in me not ordering plus a balloon payment that would of broke my heart to see leave my bank account . I totally agree there is more to life than money but with a young family to look after an house extension due to start in the new year and having my car paid off I don't regret my decision .

They will and l am almost certain the RS3 8y production will pause.....for a certain period ie 6-8 months prior to a face lift coming out....anyone correct me if l am wrong but PFL cars only ran for 2 years before production stopped then there was period of time til the face lifted car car appeared .....then there was up to 7 months wait when order books opened

EV’s won’t be taking over any time soon and in 4 years nothing will have dramatically changed on ICE cars re tax - they will still dominate the roads ... as noted above, for a good couple of decades to come too. New ones might be become harder to buy, hence grab a 5 cylinder now while you can.

My take would be any Dinosaur fuelled car entering any City would be a large charge, or even banned altogether, plus a blanket 50mph speed limit to reduce range anxiety for BV owners and a lot or road and fuel tax.

I can just see it now, everyone humming along with no overtaking in identical cars at 42mph

The government has already muted "pence/pound per mile" for the future. That coupled with fuel tax will be a win for them until they introduce another form of VED.
