RS3 8Y General Discussion Thread.

Anyone know if there is a way to reset the MMI. Last few times I’ve got in. It’s just sat on loading screens and can’t do anything with it. No radio or anything.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers. Appears to have done the trick!

Good thought it would.
There was another way I posted prior but that can be dangerous as it takes an owner into the ‘engineering’ menu.

I see youtube is full of USA reviews ie the launch of the RS3 8Y over there where you get a fully loaded RS3 8Y for the price of a fully loaded S3 8Y in the UK ...wonder how long the lead times will be for them giving the US is one of their largest market areas along with China ????

Anyone else notice in the preview of Top Gear last night there was a yellow RS3 that will feature at some point in the series.

I came to the conclusion last night that Top Gear is just a load of rubbish, the ONLY part that captured my attention was Harris in the old Police car oval race

Yes I'm afraid the actual real car review stuff is few & far between now isn't it.
Just an entertainment programme now - & even that description is pushing it most of the time.

Jeeez. What’s worse than a round Bus steering wheel ?

One with full alcantara you must be mad.

Don’t worry. What is even worse is an RS3 with a broken steering rack…

It looks good to me. But I know many in here don't like Alcantara but they probably have go-faster bits stuck on the car too...

You could have retrimmed your own wheel no?
My concern is the capacitive sensors. You can see the little box at the bottom of the wheel inside the airbag.

It isn’t clear if that would be able to be retrimmed or would work as well. So I decided to go for a while alcantara wheel. I would have preferred the flat-bottom wheel but it doesn’t work with the assistance features and I don’t want to turn anything off with coding.

Yeah. In an unclear amount of time. You should probably return your car seeing as there are so many things wrong with it

So many things wrong with it, what are you going on about……

You are the specialist at starting 101 threads about every little thing your car doesn’t do that you expect it to do……

Yes. I’m a specialist. But my car works. You should just reject yours. To change that rack not only will they take ages to get it but they will probably need 2 months to do the work.

Lol reject it, what are you rabbiting on about.

They’ll need the car for a day once they have a new rack, shortage of parts, in case you’ve not noticed.

Oh and it doesn’t affect the car at all, the clicking is from the motor, but not detrimental to its operation, apparently it’s not the first car they’ve seen with it……

I’ve had an alcantara wheel before. They are great. Love them. That’s why I got one.

I did similar for my R8, it lasted about a month I think before I put the original leather one back on, I was worried every time I started going quick and marking it, I just dont think alcantara is up to the job on a steering wheel tbh

You just have to wash it and clean it. I assume everyone is taking care of the outside of the cars - so spend a few minutes on the wheel every time you wash the car.

Nearly 3000 miles in and there is some maaad pops, burbles and odd bangs starting to appear every now and then.

That in auto or manual mode mate ?
Auto in any mode mate. The upshifts sound great and the burbles/small pops come at lower speeds in the overrun. The pop/bangs are from when you start the engine you get an odd crack from it.

Ah cool - I will have to give mine some hammer to see if I can extract some more sounds too then ;)
I did pick up on a feature mentioned on here recently that is quite good though.
If you select performance mode before you start the car you do get a louder start up sound from the exhaust.
Certainly not 8v levels (more the shame) but its a bit meatier than the standard start up.

Got to agree. I mis-shifted into reverse the other day, pressed throttle (actually in N) and it went off like a shotgun when the revs dropped. A proper loud crisp pop.

I startup like that every time. Wish it was like that normally tbh…

I am also driving around with the rear seats dropped the sound deadening by the rear seats is very noticeable!! Very cheap “mod” alert!!

I mean I’m sure it’ll be nothing like the 8v but the warm start up was awesome so even if it’s a fraction I’ll be happy
