Ouch, hope you're insured.
Hit a deer in France in the wife's Mazda, it would have to have been the *one* time we forgot to get the upgrade to fully comp for European travel (most insurers only offer legal minimum outside the UK, check carefully, they are usually very vague about it as well). Still haven't found time to sort it out
Yep, fully insured, it happened on a UK road. It will go down as a "fault" claim. I have protected NCD, so £500 excess to pay, likely a £5k repair:-
New bumper, new grille, new parking sensors, new ACC/Pre-sense sensor, new NS headlight, new washer bottle and headlight washers, likely bonnet respray (2 small paint deep gouges at front of bonnet from impact shrapnel), new radiator (not leaking, heavily dented), new trim piece around bonnet release lever, new front NS undertrays and wheel arch liner, and anything else they discover on stripdown.
Presumably new ACC/Presense sensor requires wheel alignment check before recalibration (that used to be the case).
The galling thing is, I never go that way south - when the A1(M) splits to join the top of the M1 or continue as the A1(M), I always stay on the A1(M) and join the M1 via the M18 down near Doncaster. Not this time.
The car's been appraised by 1 of 2 garages I'd choose, the other can fit me in next Tues. They are both good, I'd slightly favour the second given prior experience of the 2 (used both, finished job great in both, but first forgot to hook up the headlight washer jets on my 2015 Golf R after a bumper respray 5 years ago and had to refit), but recent trust pilot reviews aren't as good as they were for the 2nd place.
