Brakes very poor - soft pedal and cannot get wheels to lockup/engage abs

All stock. Front pads changed recently. I trust my mechanic did the master cylinder, but I suppose I should see if he remembers whether he did or not. It's a RHD since I am in Australia. Would not bleeding the master cylinder cause enough of a problem to stop the brakes from being able to lock...

Brakes very poor - soft pedal and cannot get wheels to lockup/engage abs

I know there are a heaps of threads about soft pedals and such (which I have read through), but none seem to mention the brakes themselves not working well enough as well. My brakes were feeling soft, and I got the brake fluid changed. Mechanic is familiar with VAG cars (has his own golf GTI)...

    What colour grill?

I checked photos of replacement parts online to figure out where all the clips were. Still managed to damage em a little bit. Cleaned them really well, no sanding, then plasti-dip so it can be removed/changed if I want. Dipped mine in Anthracite, not quite black and still a bit of metallic shine.

Overboost and the N75 output test - N75 not fully sealing?

Legend. Thats what I was worried about. I'll get a better idea once I know the cars physically in order. Thanks mate.

Overboost and the N75 output test - N75 not fully sealing?

Argh, thanks Badger. Had my understanding the wrong way round, think I got it now with further reading. I never expected to get the boost as early as it's being requested, was actually suprised to see how much it was asking for so early (starting to think may be dodgy map on the car before I got...

Overboost and the N75 output test - N75 not fully sealing?

Hi, 2003 Audi S3 BAM, stock parts, probably mapped. My main question is do I have a faulty N75; the actuator outlet does not completely seal: I performed the N75 output test with VCDS and blew in the bottom/input. It cycled between diverting the air out the TIP outlet and the actuator outlet...

    16396 and 16727 faults

Wow, that is cheap. Under half what I paid for genuine Bosch replacement (on sale). I would be hesitant since it doesn't even specify the manufacturer... But at that price, assuming it works, I suppose it's a good way to at least confirm that it is the sensor itself causing your faults and not...

    16396 and 16727 faults

Glad I could help. Never noticed any drop in power - but it could've been faulty the whole time i've had the car. Only got a cable onto it a week ago after having it a couple of months. I thought it felt a bit better afterward replacing it though, and logged a peak air intake of about 5% more...

    16396 and 16727 faults

That is true for my case, I checked to see when the fault codes were first appearing, and I have a reading of 16727 showing up alone. Then a couple of minutes later 16396 showed up also. (This was all before I put in the new sensor).

    16396 and 16727 faults

Hi, I had these two exact codes and got it rectified yesterday. I bought a new Camshaft position sensor (about $70 australian) and the codes haven't appeared in about 70km of driving since. They used to appear within just a few k's. I followed advice found around the forum here and rosstech...

    What have you done today?

Another step on the slow path.... step-by-step Replaced the camshaft position sensor. No more fault codes appearing for that :smug:, and a bit of performance fixed. Did a quick couple of logs, maf g/s has bumped up from 185 before sensor change to 193 g/s now. For what was sold to me as a stock...

    What have you done today?

Finally got my cheap cable working. Did a lot of research about it all and what came up. -Identified faults; Lambda, Camshaft position sensor. Did a lot of investigating fuses, wires, connections. Ordered some new parts to fix the issue. (Thankyou forum, lots of helpful info) -Did a handful of...

710N diverter valve testing - valve closes halfway then holds vacuum. Faulty?

That actually makes perfect sense. And thanks for testing it out also, good on ya. Yeah that spring is much stronger than I thought, thought it mighta been the problem at first! Cheers mate, much appreciated.

710N diverter valve testing - valve closes halfway then holds vacuum. Faulty?

Hi, Trying to figure out my faults... Possible DV issue. So I've taken the diverter valve off and done the test where you push the valve up, and put your thumb on the top hole. When I release the valve at the bottom, it immediately closes a bit over halfway then holds vacuum indefinately. Is...

Ed @ Quattromotorsport, fully custom tune NSW Australia

Thanks for the information - sounds like the guy I'll go to see once I'm ready for the upgrade. I'm going to take my time getting there, and sort out some suspension and such over time, but when I'm going for power I'll drop by his place for sure.

    Post pics of your A3/S3

Cheers mate. Fairly sure it's just the standard Absolute Red. Got a bit of work to go, hopefully she'll come up as nice as yours looks (like a ****** proffesional advertisement, sheesh, whenever I browse this thread I'm a bit inspired by yours, and one of the other red ones going around)
