My current alloys are 6.5x16 ET50, with a centre bore of 57.1. My new alloys are 7.5x17 ET40, with a centre bore of 72.6. Do I need spigot rings? Will they be a straight fit?

I recently got a new set of number plates, and instead of using the plate holder, I removed it and stuck them on instead. I later realised that I did not fill the screw holes left behind from the plate holders. Will these rust? Is it worthwhile taking them off to fill them in or too much hassle?

Looking at new alloys for my A3. The ones I like are available in 17" and 18", with the 17" being about £100 cheaper, and tyres being considerably cheaper also. Is 17" too small? Currently running 16" stock suspension.
