Been meaning to post a hello thread on here, but have had quite a lot to get on with with my car!

Joined this forum years ago when i got my first Audi- a 1.8 (non turbo :() A3- but I've just bought a Negaro Blue 52 BAM S3 off another forum member on here about a month a go and the clutch has just gone. Nothing i can quarrel really as it seemed fine when i got it, but giving it some beans today it revved as it came into boost but the car didn't go anywhere!

So the search began: I've been quoted £400 for labour only from 1 garage which has good reviews and specialises in VAG cars, £800 labour from Wearside Audi themselves if providing proof of an OEM part and then lots of other prices ranging in between.

I ask a question though as one garage named as a Brake Centre have quoted me £355 all-in, parts and fitting. I would usually jump at that price after the first quotes but I wonder if the parts I'd be getting would be up to scratch. They offer a 12 month warranty as usual, so i guess I shouldn't be too worried, but thought I'd call up on the infinite wisdom supplied on here.

Cheers

Avoid that £355 like the plague.

Use a specialist and provide the parts yourself.

Are you planning on replacing the dual mass as well?

I recently fitted a CG Motorsport stage 2 clutch kit which is fantastic and doesn't cost much more than original parts.

Seems cheap... but an LuK clutch kit from ECP will set you back around £150 and its a 6 hour or so job to replace so actually plausible

I'd ask about the parts being fitted mate... make sure its at least LuK gear and that they replace the concentric slave too... like I said, kit can be had from GSF/ECP for around the 150 mark

What mileage are you at and check the service history to see if the dual mass flywheel has been changed before?

Cheers guys, some other quotes I've had since I posted are in the £400 region anyway so I'm pretty optimistic this is just a competitive quote. They're doing the cylinder at the same time (they said it would be in the kit?) and it is an LuK part, so the only thing I'm unsure about is wether or not the flywheel's been done as I'm on 106,000... I shall check when I get in.

I'm in between jobs at the moment so my money is definitely on my mind and my thought is if I can get it done half decently now, I could always upgrade down the line.
