S3 8v steering wheel retro for on s3 8p

Hi I've got a s3 8v steering wheel and I want to retro fit it onto my s3 8p is it a straight fit and do I use the 8v airbag?

Your current airbag is two stage and 8V is single stage so they are incompatible.
You should search for at least 8K airbag if not the whole new steering wheel.

I heard you can use a a4 8k airbag on the 8v s3 steering wheel

That's good. How about multifunction? Did you get highline or lowline buttons?

I'm not sure all I know it's from a s3 8v didn't know there was different types

This is a photo from the internet. 8V buttons (on the left) won't work on 8P.
But again you can fit them from A4 8K and they'll work fine.

So what most people do (including myself) is just buy 8K steering wheels with airbag, but then you lose S3 badge.
And again! You can buy this part separately and fit your wheel, but I didn't try this myself.

just buy the 8k wheel with airbag, but the airbag pins need to be re arranged

btw, when you buy the wheel, you can ask the seller if he can place the S3 badge on it.
he did it on the second wheel i bought for my new s3 this year

all of them work, except mute button and navigation button, no clue why
mode button switches to the phone directory on the DIS, same as the mode button from the original steering wheel for 8P

Ok thx - I don't have mode on mine, guess I would if the car was originally specced for phone prep.
