Retrofit Steering Wheel Controls

Hello All,

My partner has just got her A3 2.0TDI 58plate. We are having a Pioneer stereo and upgraded speakers fitted this week. At present, the steering wheel doesnt have controls. The installers are adding in the necessary leads, so that when (if) we add steering wheel controls, they can be wired into the their setup.

My question - I have searched the forums here and can see that it is suggested I buy a steering wheel with the controls, rather than just the control buttons (available on ebay). What I can't seem to find an answer to is - will the new steering wheel require coding? If so - will it be an issue that the OEM stereo isnt present during coding?

I always recommend getting the guys who do this for a living and pay the cash as you get a great job done , less hassle and you don't need to come back on forum asking how to do this n that .
