Facelift UK RS3 Saloon/SB (400ps) Order Thread...

Hmmmmmm....maybe shop about then, new to all this detailing so I really want the car loookinf it’s best upon collection. Also said they could PPF the bonnet for 300

See what they say about doing the rest of the wheels and the brake... it’s a matter of wheels off and not much more product used... but it will really help come cleaning

I’ve never had PPF fitted before so can’t comment there sorry

The price you’ve been given isn’t too bad I don’t think... I’ve seen a lot more quote and in the past I’ve paid more for very similar work... I would rather pay that little bit more to know that the person doing the job is a bit OCD about their work and you’re getting the best you can for the money

I’d possibly be wanting a top coat of Exo, the full wheels and also the brakes done for that price mate... just to get the full lot done first time round so you’re all sorted

Just checked the link he’s sent me, for rim faces only its 50 quid (which I’ve opted for) and for rims removed and all surfaces quoted 150!

Re the serum, 105.00 to apply exo (18 months protection) and for the crystal light of which I’ve opted for is 185, but a 5 year guarantee. Seems the crystal is better for preventing swirls but the exo is better for repelling water and dirt.

He said hel need the car for 3 days...think I’m just going to pull the trigger. There’s also some essential maintenance kit for 53.00 (30% saving if you were to purchase each item individually). Has the tyre dressing, bug remover, iron and fallout remover, perfect glass, quick detailer, gwash and fair few microfiber cloths, drying towel and some naff kit bag ha. For a detailing novice seems not a bad purchase

The Exo is applied over the top of the Crystal Serum mate, so doesn’t have to be either one or the other... the Exo is to give you a sort of shinier sheen over the top

If you like keeping the car really clean... I would really look at getting the brakes done, obviously if the price if right for you... or even look at sealing the rest of the wheels and the brakes yourself... not the hardest job and really makes cleaning easier

Yea the kit bag sounds decent to be fair mate... I wouldn’t be using the iron and fallout remover tho, you shouldn’t really need that as it should all be removed by the detailer in the first place... the rest will definitely be useful

Make sure you get 2 buckets and grit guards too... no point paying all that out for a professional detail just to put all the swirls back on yourself haha

I agree - if you are going to wash the car yourself then it is all a waste of money. Buy a decent snowfoam, lance, sheepskin washmit, 2 wash buckets and a decent drying towel (and add a few more accessories as you go) and you won't need it. All wash & dry motions straight rather than circles and job done.

As for the IronX - you will need it as the dealer prep is nothing more than a quick wash (putting the first swirls in place) and a clean of the grease pencil marks. To be fair to Audi, I took mine with no prep and, having gone over the car with a sun lamp, the paint is virtually immaculate. A few very faint marks on the bonnet (not scratched into the paint) which I think are glue in the folds of the transport plastic. The first soak in Tardis will remove all of that with no need to touch the bodywork physically.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only one who actually drives my RS3 instead of washing it and only letting it out to play on a dry day beginning with H ;)

I have no problem driving it in all conditions and getting it plastered in mud. What I hate is swirls in paint. The reason new cars gleam is that no-one has knackered the clear coat or top surface yet. A few months of £6 drive through washes and it will start to look very ordinary whereas I will detail the car properly and the appearance will remain unchanged.

In any event, to wash the car yourself takes around an hour. To do it in the car wash isn't much less buy the time you get there, queue, have it done and drive home.

Anyway, stop being judgemental of others who are actually doing the right thing by the car - if you don't give a toss then that's fine. I bought the car for cash rather than a PCP/lease/finance deal and want to look after it.

Judgemental? Get back in your box!

I think you need to climb back in old boy - you were the one passing judgement on how people are using their cars not me.

Brilliant. Cheers chaps!!

I think you need to learn the difference between an observation and a judgement.

My car will be used day in day out for work and everything else... will still be washed weekly or maybe sometimes more haha

Having spent a couple of years using wheel coatings, don’t spend £50 on it let alone £150. Simple fact is they do not last. You can’t wash the wheels without a wheel cleaner because the brake dust / dirt will build up in smaller areas and you will be forced to use a wheel cleaner. Regardless of how friendly it is, the wheel coatings never seem to last. Instead get a good wheel cleaner.

I will post some photos of mine when I finally get to clean it on the weekend! I’ve done 500 miles since the last wash, most of which on slushy roads and going sideways a fair bit of it. Oh it’s dirty, it’s bad.. it’s the worst one of my cars has ever been. A trip up to Oxford today to watch the Grand Tour just about finished it off in torrential rain, the car looks like it’s got matt paint now.

Happy days. Saves me fifty sheets then! Need to invest in some good cleaning products for the motor. Neglected the R last 6 months

I’m sticking with Gyeon cleaning products for the ceramic coating. But get some Wonder Wheels Colour Active wheel cleaner. It isn’t an acid cleaner like the old one was and works very very well.. I’ve been using it for years.

Hands up, who owns this one?

Rear end shunt but doesn’t look too bad. Slippy out there, I guess someone just couldn’t stop in time?

Ouch .. my biggest worry that , so many people driving beyond their limits in the recent conditions . Driving round the m25 last night cars tailgating like they were being towed by one another. If it is someone here good luck and good colour choice .

What a nightmare - like we were all saying, these cars perform ready well in wet/icy conditions. Unfortunately the 2004 Focus or equivalent sat 2m off your bumper does not.

I would be really p1ssed off if that was me.

Is that yours ?

Lol good god no, mine is safe and sound at the dealers, i hope.
I just reg checked it and saw it was registered on the 30th of November, someone is not best pleased i guess.

The more annoying thing to this is, that car is now only 16 days old

Well as long as the owner has followed some of the more elaborate paint protection schemes post pick up it should polish out . Lol .

Stage 2 cars now surpassing 525ps in Germany...

Sounds great too. Pops and cracks are clearly controlled by the mapping rather than the exhaust itself.

Maybe backfire 3.0 programming will have it popping and banging as good as the PFL

Finally the car has arrived; now I have some questions.....

Do you have received with the car the car jack and wrench? (I know there is no spare wheel....)

By the other hand, what settings have you applied with individual program?

Wrench and jack should be in the boot . Jack is visible when you lift the tray. Wrench etc when you lift the polystyrene nearest the back of boot.

Just got a call from Audi. This time to confirm that the build week will be the 4th (will not change). Then, 20 days to the open-air parking storage (maybe there is a better word for that, sorry) and then 7 more days stored before reaching the dealer so I guess I am going to get it late February. That's for a Spanish car. Still too much waiting...

The FL sounds better in comfort! PFL better in dynamic and launch. Incredible how diffierent they sound.

At last the time has come, off to pick mine up tomorrow, so the wait will come to an end.

Good luck with it mate - you will have a great day tomorrow and end up in the petrol station! However, it will be a rare occasion that you will be smiling while tanking up with premium gas at £1.30/L.

Thank you, I have a 4.5 hour train ride to get there first.
The tank has beed filled already cheap still I bet, (should of asked for the old stuff).
I ran 99 in my JCW so am used to it lol.
Hope the weather tomorrow is not as bad as they say its going to be.

Mine came with 1/2 a tank. Gone in a blink. I hope the weather calms down bit too - I have a 220 mile round trip to Birmingham tomorrow evening (another tank and a bit I imagine). Mind you, the RS3 is king of the road in all of this sh1t.
