RS3 8Y General Discussion Thread.

Agreed ... & funny you should mention the speakers and I found the speaker sound very unimpressive for the first couple of weeks but then they cam to life and I'm very impressed.
Yes, they sound terrible new. I remember as a youth being recommended upgrades for my sound systems and being initially disappointed. I'm led to believe its the surround and suspension elements that need to soften up.

VAG car transporter sinking in the Atlantic. Not heading to the UK though! https://www.euronews.com/2022/02/16...ers-from-burning-cargo-ship-in-atlantic-ocean
Just an update I found, copy and paste I take it the rest of the 4000 cars, (around 2500) are just run of the mill Audi's and VW's that dont make the same Headlines :)
  • The Felicity Ace caught ablaze on Wednesday and 22 of its crew members were airlifted to safety
  • There are 4,000 cars on board the ship including 189 Bentleys, 1,100 Porsches and multiple Lamborghinis
  • The cargo ship was carrying vehicles from Emden, Germany, to Davisville, Rhode Island
  • Lithium-ion batteries in the electric cars have caught fire and require specialist equipment to extinguish

Has anyone else had this problem yet? I’m really beginning to really hate this car.

If anyone remembers a couple months back with my alarm went off and wouldn’t turn off. It’s just done it again tonight. 10pm at night, wind, halestone and the alarm triggered and wouldn’t turn off.

Unlock it, lock it, reset on the phone, get in the car, start it up, drive around and the stupid alarm still wouldn’t turn off. It’s f**king ridiculous

Fairly normal for the alarm to go off in high winds and heavy hail. Book it into Audi.

Defo going to mate. Just annoying that there’s no way to stop the alarm once it’s set off :sadlike:

I doubt it’s the same, but at one point my S4 alarm just kept going off as well, but it would at least stop when I unlocked and re locked it. Then 5 mins later it would go off again.

The solution at the time was to lock it using the actual key in the door lock which apparently doesn’t arm the alarm but will lock the car.

I called Audi breakdown and one of the Audi specialist AA units came out and did a software/firm where update on the alarm control units and I had no issues since then. Don’t know if that’s worth a try initially?

Oh dear, honeymoon over then
Early adoption and helping Audi/VW fix the “quirks” with 8Y and 8R’s

Lol too low really sucks the wheels in.

The wheels they put on it at the end, how to really ruin a car

Wow. Those wheels are… Interesting.

Think it’s a little low, I’m not a fan of wheels being right up to the arches or just inside them so just a few mm higher would suit me.

They’re adjustable though, so I’m sure we could get them to suit all our tastes.

No idea about them, this is the first time I’ve heard of them to be honest. I’m an Eibach guy since I’ve always had good experiences with them so will likely use them even if they’re not adjustable.

I’ll have a read through that thread a little later too.

Perhaps in a different finish they'd suit it, but not as they are IMO.

They're right. Audi have pulled the RS3 configurator from the Audi UK website.

You can still configure a SB just not a Saloon ? weird

Both still available on the dealer configurator though ?

Brace for slight controversy- I actually prefer the round steering wheel….

Won’t argue at all that the flat bottomed wheel looks a lot better but now I’ve been driving with it for over a month and 1200 miles, I’m actually finding the round wheel really good, especially with the rear being playful you just know you’re grabbing steering wheel and not a gap where the wheel should be

Amusingly I don’t use any of the functions that require the round wheel so would have been fine with the flat wheel

Base spec car too so 52k order price.

Im sure thats my local dealer, they also had a turbo blue one that they said was a customers car, that'll be it in the background waiting for a suitable time before selling on at a silly price (this car park is hidden from the general public)

Weirdly enough the Red car I had a deposit on at Swindon has gone up 5K
Must have had that door damage fixed then imagine paying 63k to find out it’s been repaired.

It looks to have the standard exhaust too, not seen any with that yet as I think even the frankenspec ones have the sports exhaust.

Considering all RS3 8y's have sound induction fed in through their speakers it would be interesting to hear how much difference if any the so named sport's exhaust makes

Been there done that with an early A3 (Car had virtually a complete side put into it) It was less than 6 months old, Dealer said it was returned as owner had qualified for Company car, I asked the question, has it been damaged or painted for any reason ''Oh no Sir, this is a 6 month old car'' I didnt crawl all over it as it was only 6 months old and pizzing down when we went to view.

Not only was it repaired but the selling dealer had carried out the repair.

The only difference between sales persons at the likes of a back street Arthur Daily set up and the chrome and glass showroom is the snotty receptionist you have to get past at the Audi centre, none of them could lie straight in bed ***

I've noticed the person (s) in charge of pricing at Swindon can't make up their mind (or its a cynical Autotrader search trick) and are always changing pricing.
I have followed a few of their 8Vs they got in last year and they seemed to stay low and then climb. Maybe if they are following car price guide (CAP) maybe that's the reason or as I say moving about to sneak into new entries ever week on a search

Seemed pretty over priced below and a drop to £58 actually looked close to realistic (with matrix, Sports Exhaust and Adaptive Suspension), but now moved out again in price. Clearly not that desperate to sell before 1s March or they've checked the Audi dealers and realised they are missing out on a few extra thousand.

Bit too low, my 8V standard hight, was already bottoming out on the road humps to limit speed to 20. Have to crawl over, so not for me around here.

Interestingly enough I was watching the Humble Mechanic YT on collecting his new Golf R yesterday and he actually mentioned the ‘above list’ selling going on in the states.
He mentioned the dealer he used to order his R is pretty much the only one not overcharging in the current climate.
