RS3 8Y General Discussion Thread.

In other news...

Main Highway has left Emden and is currently enroute to Grimsby.
Parana has left Emden and is currently enroute to Sheerness.
Seine Highway has left Emden and is currently enroute to Sheerness.
Good news, just did the weekly update, so ships are still sailing... with VAG cars., will update my blurb.

Weirdly enough the Red car I had a deposit on at Swindon has gone up 5K
Must have had that door damage fixed then imagine paying 63k to find out it’s been repaired.

Considering all RS3 8y's have sound induction fed in through their speakers it would be interesting to hear how much difference if any the so named sport's exhaust makes
Yeah, I'm keen for a comparison video.
I have to say though, speakers or not, the pops are real, and the volume and tone outside the car is excellent.

I suppose the question is more a case of would you risk not to have the sports exhaust and hope its all in the speakers, therefore codeable?

Also the City of STPetersburg is completing it's Emden-Grimsby Journey, apparently built for Nissan, but you never know :)

I guess just checking p/n would reveal that answer?

Does anyone know if the Vorsprung comes with adaptive dampers? I see in my order it says RS specific sport suspension, are they adaptive?

Perfect, thanks for the reply. I asked the dealer earlier in the week and I’m still waiting for them to confirm!

Wonder if it’s a lack of knowledge or just yet more poor communication.?!

Likely both ime

H2 doesnt really go that far to be honest, it's getting extremely hard to find some parts and the prices are :scared2:

I just love the old school feel, the ability to 'U' turn it in the width of a road as an eg (the other two have the turning circle of a car) and the tinkering just trying to get it run as sweet as, it must be the hardest bike to get the carbs correct in the World, but i'm there on that one now :)
I was a bit young to catch the big 2 stroke movement, Biggest stroker I had was an X7 in '87 iirc, Had RD125, GT 125 etc.. Had the RSV4 version of your Tuono & the last R1 I had before the APE was a 4C8. Crazy prices the 70's & 80's Japanese bikes are fetching now!

I had a couple of RSV4's (2010/2013) before what is now my second Tuono. My R1 History was a 1998 (in 1998) then a few MV's followed by a 2008 4C8, 2009 big bang followed by a S1000RR then the two RSV4's, the RSV4's, the Tuono's and the X Plane R1 have such a lot of character even when your not going nuts, The R1M was a retirement present to me :) I love the thing but it's starting to hurt me as the years pass by :(

I have the MT10 - that's probably where you should head next. Same Crossplane CP4 engine as the R1 just more low down grunt and boy does it have grunt. :D

I took an MT10 out whilst waiting for my R1M to be serviced, it's very similar to the Tuono in all respects and I prefer the CP4 sountrack to the 1100 V4 Aprilia I just cant get over the looks tbh, it keeps reminding me of the Film Jonny 5

On the Ships, both the Grimsby bound ones are messing around probably trying to avoid the weather, which is a little worrying, I just hope the cars are strapped dwon well, the Main Highway is going up and down the Norfolk coast :)

Im lost

The new one they've just brought out is not my cup of tea but the previous gen that I have I love. Mine is in black so it's all stealthed out but a much better riding position for you with the same CP4 sound track!

Have been watching the ships closely. Was due an update tomorrow but chances are ours are on one of the ships that hasn't docked yet so won't have been scanned as arrived in the UK by morning.

Australian Audi dealers got a nice surprise by Audi today,

Orders built this year are missing,

Massage feature on the seats
360 CAM
BLIND SPOT MONITOR/PRE SENSE ( a joke )

My kemora is due to come out of production on the 7th of March so will see when I get the VIN, not looking good though.

Massage??

You're kidding right, can that even be an option?

Had the sports massage seats in my S4 and while they were nice, I don't think that they're something that I'd seek out or miss massively even on a longer trip. They just didn't do that much massaging really, but everyone is different and the wife absolutely loved them.

Just seen my Vorsprung SB and can confirm that it has no TPMS and the boots it's wearing are Bridgestones. Couldn't see any sign of a 360 degree camera and I've been told that the car didn't come with a Audi Connect keycard unlike some of the Frakenstein and Launch cars. Had a look at the wheels and they must be stickers but they are the same level all around the wheel so they don't protrude at all. Not sure I noticed anything else that we've been discussing.

Oh on a plus side it has come with two sets of keys which I was told wouldn't happen.

Your biking History is eerily similar to mine Buddy, Had a 4XV, 5PW, 5VY & a 4C8.All bar the 4XV were massively tricked up. My last bike was a Gen 3 S1000RR, Yep it had the creature comforts, Cruise Control, Heated grips.... You may have read this in another thread but i was Knocked off it by a Myopic C**KSucker in a Insignia (oh the shame & ignominity of it...)& I Sustained a Crush Fracture at T12, Amongst lesser injuries. Still waiting for my case resolution 36 months later. I will have another bike, Although whether it will be a Garage ornament or a Track bike (I have absolutely no desire to Road ride) remains to be seen. FWIW imho the RSV4 was the best bike I have owned (up to now)

yeah I got 2 sets of keys which I was pleased about.

The lack of proper tpms is a proper mick take, I was over it, but it just annoys me. First had it 8 years ago on an A Class Merc.
Even worse, every time I go in my Mrs' Micra, she puts it on the tpms screen just to take the pee even further.
Complete joke to be honest. If I really wanted I could get tpms on my mountain bike ***!

yeah it is pretty bad when we’re pleased just to get 2 sets of keys isn’t it :tearsofjoy:

but I could imagine it taking ages to get the 2nd if it wasn’t supplied, chasing Audi, getting the runaround !

Very Similar :)
I bought a 4XV about 18 months ago, very early one owner with 9400 miles, I think i'll just keep it for the time being, It doesnt really want to click over to 10k miles, i'll probably just tax it for a month around the MOT and do a couple of hundred miles on it

Personally don't give a flying f*** about massage seats but if they're a standard option we're paying for as a whole then getting a measly few hundred discount on it, it is a bit poor, might have to push back my exclusive build if i want a whole car lol.

Whilst I can't comment on Pre-sense - I don't think this is right - you DO get the interior design packs and the Alcantara wheel and also it appears red brakes as standard and those things are ALL missing in the UK and honestly, the design pack would lift all the UK cars significantly in feel and look.

The fact is I think everyone on here is going to be ordering the colored air vents for their cars separately and trying to fit them at home, and some of us - myself included - are going to get that wheel retrimmed as well JUST to get that look here.

The alcantara round wheel + interior design red/green is an optional extra down here- so def not standard, and yes, we're lucky to be able to spec these on the cars. Otherwise the interior has gone backwards in terms of quality and layout compared to the 8V.2

I have had a few steering wheels re-trimmed over the years, I REALLY wanted an Alcantara one on my R8 so bought a secondhand one and had it trimmed, after a couple of days on the car I found my self not wanting to grip it in case I marked it, we used to use Alcantara wheels on the race cars for their grip when using race gloves, but even with gloves they soon look v secondhand

Agreed ... I had alcantara on my last 8V RS3 (& the A45) and you do need to regularly buff it up to keep it looking good.
I'm quite happy with full leather on the 8Y.
