RS3 8Y General Discussion Thread.

O/t out in the RSQ3 yesterday and all the boy racers trying to burn me off. First an A45s on hold at the lights only to launch control away then current shape M3 blasting past me as I was just driving along a DC road! Is it a constant issue for you in the RS3?!

TX.

Lol all the time, last one was a Kia 4x4 thing

Racing up behind then dropping back, i just em get on with things, the one that enrages them I’ve found is when you pull in and let them go by, seems to really upset some of them.

Racing etc on public streets never ends well, just look at the Instagram muppets that post about it all the time.

RS3 now available to order again from UK dealers.

One thing I noticed now is a carbon black will set you back £60k...and you can now spec pan roof on that trim whereas you couldn't before.

No

Considering how fat and different the RS3 is to a normal A3 and the colour, I get very few looks or wanna-be's.

My M4cp was a completely different story.

This is generally my experience. I get the occasional try-hard, but most don't bother. With spacers on it, these cars look very fat on the road so you immediately know they're not an A3/S3 and I think that puts people off.

Not really but it happens now and again. I am of an age where I know I have nothing to prove and it always makes me laugh to myself how ridiculous these idiots (most who can’t drive very well) look. I’ll happily drive with enthusiasm where and when it is safe and have no intention of falling the wrong side of the law and being prosecuted for ‘trialling’ which this activity would qualify for. On a side note, I have been a bit paranoid where I park and I’m starting to understand now that 95% of people don’t notice and/or care what I’m driving. It’s no supercar but the RS3, nice as it looks, blends in pretty well. People who are interested and do know have a good look…….guy in a van recently seemed to have his tongue hanging out!

On the first point again, I do love exiting the M6 Toll……..my childish instinct always kicks in there for some reason!

EV's seem to target' me', I had a BMW X 'something or other' the other day, I dont know for sure whether they think 'RS3, I'll show him' or if it's just an EV thing thinking they can just push in front of you with that instant 25 metre jump they can do, not had too many others though, just mainly EV's, Tesla/ipace/BMW x?

A Polestar2 had a go at my Golf R a couple of years back, he did me at the first set of lights but not the second set :) Interesting though that every time the DSG changed gear he 'jumped' about 3 feet further along side me

Just had 30 day reminder for oil change
So looked here

£424! For an oil change!

Have a look at their ‘all in one’ package. I pay £14.78 a month and it covers two services, an oil change and major service.

That's a really good deal, not sure how you managed that one! I'm £20 a month and that was from taking it out at the start of the year when the dealership had a special offer on it...

Just checked it's £30.49 a month now for that package.

At the prices I was quoted £30.49 doesn’t save anything really.

1st oil service was £339
2nd inspection is £400

Not sure how I managed mine, £15.19 a month for the first 3 services!

It was a fixed mileage maintenance deal though so it would cover the services providing I didn’t do more than 10k a year, which I was never going to do. Not sure if that’s where the difference is.

Through VW finance via Lookers.

I always used to supply my own oil with the R8, £8.50 a litre v Audi at £20? a litre adds up to a small fortune when you need 10 litres

Dunno never felt the need to do that.

£16 p/m for the RSQ3 for 3 years of servicing. Did seem a no brainer!

Just checked my agreement and I’ve actually got a three year plan. Looks like I dropped really lucky with it.

I’ve got a couple of these, got one online and the other directly from the dealer - they are both the same apart from one I got online spreads the costs over 2 years and the one from the dealer over 3

This is the current offer.

I think I'm going to just go to A for Audi for my oil change. £300 is day light robbery. But the guy in Glasgow Audi did say their hourly rate has gone up quite a bit.

Must be a lot if it costs £350 for a service that takes an hour. Mad.

Just heard back from the Indy. They charge £230 for the oil change. My local garage does it for £60! (I supply the oil). I think at those prices I might as well go to Audi.

It does look better when selling the car if it’s been into audi for main services etc.

Sad though because independents can do a far better job.

I don't plan on selling the car. But in the past, it had paid to have a good relationship with the dealer in case anything goes wrong and you need to make a warranty claim.

But the indy in this case isn't half the price (as i'd expect). So there's no real benefit to going to them.

I had a great relationship with Nobles in Edinburgh when i had the GTR. I'd even get great courtesy cars to drive around (eg First Juke-R in the UK, 370z etc) for the day while they were doing the service. And they helped out when the MFD (display screen) broke. Oh and the turned blind eye to the aftermarket tune and Y-Pipe. But that's owned by David Noble. Where Glasgow Audi is part of Lookers so there may not be the same level of individual service.

I’d quite happily pay whatever Audi wanted as long as I knew the car was going to be done properly and treated with respect (basically how I’d treat anyone else’s property) but sadly some dealerships seem to employ way too many knuckle draggers.

My local garage charges me £120, I'll go there for the in between services and to audi for the scheduled ones that flag up on the mmi. My service interval is massive.

It can be changed from long life to 12 month timed intervals.

First ‘run in’ service completed by a specialist at £170 and updated online, I have 2 free services to use at Audi and then I’ll be back to the specialist. I’m not bothered about losing a few quid by not having full audi service history.
Those that are into cars won’t be bothered as long as it’s been serviced by a well known specialist and updated online, if it takes longer to sell then so be it.

I'll just leave it as is and get it serviced at my local in between, save so many trips to Audi. I'll just do them for the official ones.

I wasn't aware there were different service schedules possible. My MyAudi app says I'm due an inspection in October 2024 and an oil change in July 2024. The car was delivered in October 2022 and there wasn't a running in service. I've only covered about 5,000 miles so far so I'm guessing I'm hitting the maximum period on the "long life" schedule?

Long life is around 18 months / 18000 miles

Yearly fixed is 12 months / 9800 miles

No way should an RS3 be left for 18k for its first oil change.

Some very creative wording on this advert;

Lol. Selling the overpriced dream as usual.

Cancelled orders popping up regular now.

Car dealers (Warrington in particular) are going into owners groups offering them up for sale lol.

I've sold mine as a customer at the dealership I use was super keen on that colour and now gone back into an S3 Vorsprung instead as I really wasn't using all the performance it had to offer and as they were dead set on taking my car in the dealership did me a killer deal on the swap that I really couldn't refuse.

Will keep my eye out for when the facelift comes but if its just the same will stay in the S3 as it's more than enough for my daily needs tbh.

I don't think anyone uses all the performance on offer though do they.........

At least interior wise you wont see much difference then :whistle2:

Yeah agreed no one does - just for me in London I felt like the S3 was a better fit for now and the deal to swap was very good for me.

Also for some reason my interior has contrast stitching (white stitches) and the car also has the blind spot assist lights on the mirrors not sure how an S3 gets them but an RS3 doesn't!

Have noticed some of the door card panels in the S3 are plastic where on the RS3 they're suede but that's about it for interior differences that I can spot.

Also the Virtual Cockpit Plus I never noticed it before but the RS3 has better graphically designed options than the S3 small thing but still.

Obviously the engine and the trick rear differential are missing and I will definitely miss them - but I'm happy in the S3 so no complaints here.

Just had to change the battery on the key, to save people time don’t go on YouTube as the key is slightly different. Push up on this wee tab with a small flat blade. Once cover off push down on the battery to the right and that should make enough room to remove the battery

Yeah, I just stuck the physical key in it and a little twist on the tab popped it off.
