RS3 8Y General Discussion Thread.

I have had a few steering wheels re-trimmed over the years, I REALLY wanted an Alcantara one on my R8 so bought a secondhand one and had it trimmed, after a couple of days on the car I found my self not wanting to grip it in case I marked it, we used to use Alcantara wheels on the race cars for their grip when using race gloves, but even with gloves they soon look v secondhand
Exactly my experience with Alcantara. It looks good initially but looks used very quickly generally.

I was thinking of getting my wheel re-trimmed with some contrast stitching but then thought 'what's the point?' since all the other stitching in the car will still be normal and the mis-match would annoy me. I'm not getting the entire interior redone either, so I'll just leave it unless I win the lottery.

I'll also add that with the R8 you do really need to hold the steering wheel, it has loads of 'feel' and with that also comes loads of kick back, they also have in correct Ackermann geometry and scrub the fronts on tight corners

Of all the things Audi have cut back on for the UK market, contrast stitching on the interior really is quite baffling.
A 360 cam requires chips and components so ok we get it, but what is the difference between black / grey / red / green stitching ?
I'm guessing it will either come at a later date on future cars (maybe next year) or a face lift whenever that comes.
It is a crying shame though, for the sake of some colour dye, it would have made such a difference.
I know many have complained about the interior quality but on the whole I am very happy with it.
The seats are supremely comfortable and the leather feels thick and premium and you can't beat that smell when you get in the car.
The door handles have a really nice movement and the doors close with a satisfying thunk.
No squeaks or rattles, it does feel really well put together.
Exterior wise I really cannot convey how good these cars look - from any angle.
Absolutely no complaints whatsoever - the styling is bang on the money and it really is a car that you definitely look back to see as you're walking away.
I'm really pleased with daytona too, it really is a stunning colour and perfectly suits the lines of the car and blends so well with the black roof and carbon trim.

pretty much what I said.
tbh I'm not bothered if we don't get coloured vents or seats - i'd be happy with just the contrast stitching on the seats, door arms and steering wheel (rock grey or red).

Just had word back from Eventuri. Their full intake for the RS3 8Y is due to be released next month and it is £1656. Great intake, but not for me at that price.

It's nice on non contact surfaces door cards and on the internal roof covering that's it....

Can we buy the seats and wheel from that car

I know alcantara gets dirty but if you clean it then the wheel looks so much better.

I have to echo the comments about rattles etc. The interior is absolutely rock solid over even the worst road surfaces.

Very Similar :)
I bought a 4XV about 18 months ago, very early one owner with 9400 miles, I think i'll just keep it for the time being, It doesnt really want to click over to 10k miles, i'll probably just tax it for a month around the MOT and do a couple of hundred miles on it
That looks very clean. Way more bottom end shove than the later bikes, I just didn't like a) The Sluggish steering and b) The instability which considering point a shouldn't have been the case. That is similar to a buddy of mine (he has had his since new, He also bought the 06 Candy/Silver one. I haven't seen him for a while. Iirc he had 9 bikes in total at the time, Including 2 RD500LC)

Didnt you notice the seat (side) airbag has gone off?

Alcantara doesnt like grubby sweaty hands, and all hands sweat a little,

Last one just for you, Fires out now apparently, all she needs now is a good swell and all the cars will fall to one side (as the tie downs will be burnt) and down she goes :)
Looks a scary ship to me now

Exposure loss for vehicle owners onboard Felicity Ace estimated at 115M

^^ I read that the fire went out as there is nothing left inside to burn!

With the way the world is currently it’s going to be expensive to run an RS3, petrol is reckoned to be going up by 20p a litre.

My S3 as gone from £57 to £70 in the last few months so I'd dread to think what the Rs3 is to fill up .
Lucky for us we only have to fill up once every 2 weeks .
